Arena Season 9 (Cata first Season info)

Season 9 is up on the beta test servers.

For all of you that were concerned they were "handing out" equal gear to lower skilled players please pay attention. Looks to be a SERIOUS effort to get gear in season 9.

Getting conquest points:
Daily random bg = 25 points
Rated BG = 4 points (yes, one sixth of your first random bg of the day, wow)
Arena = can't tell yet, but i'd guess much less than 4 points since it takes about 3 minutes a match, maybe 1 point?)

2h Weapons are 3400 conquest points
1h Main hand weaps 2450
offhand 950
wrist 1250
legs, head, chest 2200
shoulder, trinket 1650
waist 1650
cloak, rings, neck 1250

Also, the look of the weapons seems to be exactly the same as the current weapons available on live.

at 25 points a day plus 4 points a win, it's going to be a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG time before you see casuals in full sets.

@ 3 hours playing a day, 15 mins a match, 50% win rate you would earn 45 conquest points a day.

lol, that's 75.5 days to get a 2h weapon playing 3 hours a day. Looks like this will see some adjustment, must be preliminary numbers. I'll update this when they adjust costs/rewards.

hehe, yeah. it really looks like they just copied everything from season 8 including costs, but changed it from arena points to conquest points without considering the rate you gain points. Probably just to test that rated bg's work. Though i can't seem to get a group together to actually get into one lol.

Hmmm. I like the direction that this is going--Winning a rated BG/arena gives you points immediately which you can spend. Your rating comes into play *just* for the 2200 equivalent weapon.

Are these points for winning or just points for showing up? I wonder, if it's the latter, if there is at least a scale, to where if you are winning you are at least going to be able to gear up faster, but you suck or your comp isn't viable you can still eventually gear up, and the casuals can still get gear someday. That doesn't sound too bad. If it's just points for showing up and little or no more for winning, although I seriously doubt that's the case, why try? Leave it on all day while you watch tv or do something else for this insane grind.. half your team will be botters anyway and arena will be full of naked dancing players.

Overall it may not be bad, there are some comps I'd love to play, or at least love to be able to full gear out (like my dk ret team, but I'd rather eat dirt than grind to 1800 or 2000 with this comp, far too frustrating), that I know are never going to be viable in arena or high level BGs. But if a 2k+ level player/comp gets no reward (even if that reward is just the same gear faster) for that skill and effort, that's going to cause some issues. I'm sure Blizzard is aware of this though. People already bot, afk, and abuse the system to get gear from 2 season ago.

random bg points you must win a random bg, rated bg points you must win a rated bg. I'm pretty sure they said no points for losing, so might help with the afk/just for points teams.
