You have 4 Shamans. For Arena you will not play 5. Its not viable. You will have a healer.

Keep your 4 Shamans, let your friend Tank for you when you want to do instances.

Add a Mage as your 5th. This way you always have ports and food/water for PvP. When you PvP/PvE you will only play 4, but that 5th is always there. If you really really want to be self dependant, roll your own Pally Tank.

There are the answers to all your questions.

    A Druid: Another hybird.
Go Bear and tank. (I don't think you could tank heroics though)
I don't understand why you wrote this? My current main is a Bear, I tank Heroics easy and MT Gruuls in our Guilds current progression, is there something about 5 boxing that would make a Druid tank problematic?

I'm trying to decide on a 5 toon team and also considering how to leverage the two 70s that I already have, Bear as mentioned above, and S.Priest in full S1 PVP gear.

My personal expeirnce with druid tanks is that they seem to "max out" at some point. It seems you've had better luck!
Not sure what you mean by "max out" as it relates to your statement about not being able to tank heroics, I do not know of any Heroic my bear couldn't tank.

I would be interested to see what you mean by "max out" because I'm trying to decide if I can use my existing bear tank, or if I should just bite the bullet and roll a tank with a shield (pali/war?)

If your referring to maxing out in raid progression, bears can tank all the way to BT, obviously its situational, some fights require a shield, all the more reason I guess I should roll a tank with a shield in case I need to switch out my bear now War or pali hmmm...

Side note about tank selection. I dual tank with a pali in our guild, it always is annoying to me that after a fight, he needs to sit and drink, while I have a full rage bar... so by the time he's through drinking, my rage is gone and I have to enrage again, this is becomming very annoying for me. Something to consider. I guess if I had a mana based tank, then he could be drinking with the mana dps & heals..

Okay, right now I'm stuck between deciding between a warrior as tank, or a druid as tank? I would MOSTLY be PvPing at 70, Arena's and BG's. Which should I go for?

I can't speak to your brothers issues with tanking as a bear, but for the record, I can verify that there is no 5 or 10 man content in the game ( regular or heroic ) that a bear can't effectively tank given the correct lvl of skill and gear.

To answer the OP, I would need more clarification about what your trying to do, tank & pvp are not two words that usually go together ( unless you mean tank gav and drek in AV). If you want a tank for pve, and the ability to pvp, then Feral Druid would be fine for PVE and BGs, mainly because you wouldn't have to respec to do both. However, In general, Feral doesn't do so well in the higher end arenas ( yes I know there are exceptions). For a war to be an effective tank for PVE, then do PVP, they would need respec for each, that might be a cost you don't want to incur, however once re-specced they do very well in either pvp ( arena and bg) or pve. Nice thing about feral tank, is they can dps good and heal in a pinch if they have to. A prot spec war is just good for tanking, their dps is not comparable to kitty dps unless they respec arms or fury.

Okay, well, what about this. I won't be PvEing at 70. I want the druid or warrior to be able to tank until then, but at 70 which would be better in an arena/bg (can be an spec) with my 4 shaman?

5th shamman,, keeps it simple, OMGWTFBBQ for pvp. Swap out a Live healer for Arena's.

But, will I be able to "solo" instances with 5 shammies?

Yes. with the execption of 1 or 2 bosses, its not hard at all. I did it with 4 mages & a priest. It will be harder than with say a pally tank, but your dps will be that much higher for world pvp.

I was basing the suggestion of a 5th shammy on your other stated goal:

I think for me, what it most boils down to, is what do you want to do more of:

PVP: I highly suggest 5 shammies. You will be able to PVE enough to get them to 70, no problem including most non heroics, & even a few heroic bosses with a lot of practice. You can then use all 5 in BG's for more ownage. & drop 1 for Arena's for a live healer. I did most of the outlands instances with 4xMages/1x Priest. Shammies will be easier than that.

PVE: I suggest 4 Shammies/Paladin tank. You will be much better at PVE, & since most PVP will go better with a live healer, is just as viable for arena.

Either way, it kind of depends on your goals at 70.

GL with whatever you decide to do.
