Thread: Voice controls

    Default Voice controls

So while searching around Google a buddy found this

    http://www.5hyphen.com/mvc/index.htm

    My Voice Controller ...

Apparently as you'll find out if you read it, this is primarily for disabled people, voice command macros.

After reading into it and playing with some of the features I began to wonder, could anything about this program be construed as automation? There is a "Delay" Function where you can give it the voice commander "Repeat 5" and it will repeat the command 5 times automatically, obviously this is automation and would be disabled right away.

Was wondering if anyone had experience / opinions on this thing.

You can use a G15 in a way that will violate the TOS and use it in ways that it will not.

You can use it without the delays and repeats and it should be OK, but if you do use the delays or the repeats then you are violating the ToS.

I helped a friend awhile back set up a Voice command type thing, along with his X keys was it? Of course this was for City of X . anyways , It worked as long as we had him doing one voice command for one Key press.

Awhile back, like a year or two ago, There was a guy here who we played around with Voice commands in WoW. It was fine , except when you needed to be on vent.

But for simple things like Heal Tank, Follow, etc. It was fine.

When I first started multiboxing with a mixed team, this is how I used to heal with my priest. I forget the name of the program, but basically it hit keystrokes depending on which voice command I gave it. I had like 20+ keys bound for things like renew A, renew B, shield A, etc. It wasn't considered automation then, as long as it hit one key at a time.

This was back before any software was available for multiboxing. Things have changed a lot and I'm still trying to catch up. I use ISboxer and healer repeating regions now.

Which is more effective in your opinion?

    The current software.

Voice commands would only be useful for really obscure things that you don't want to take up room for.

Think about spamming buttons and having someone walk in the room with you screaming..

Its more of an ethical thing though isn't it, since theres no way for them to know that you are adding waits into your macros. Has anyone actually ever been banned for using a G15? I don't know...

I Googled it, people have been banned using the G15. I'm guessing WOW monitors the time in between each key press. So that when they see someone is using a string of commands which ALWAYS has 10ms wait in between them, then they are using programmable features in some way and ban.

If it was random wait between 10-50ms I doubt you would get a ban.
I think this approach is consistent though, if people use a G15 for programmable reasons to add waits, then they are automating an element of the game whcih was not intended to be automated. Although consistency from Blizzard would be nice.
