Default F10 (select nearest NPC) and pets

I've been using F10 + U to interact with NPC such as quest givers etc, and it's great you handing in quests etc. I do often have to spam it when i get the "Item is busy" message, but a few keypresses and I'm usually good for my group of 6.

But I've noticed that whenever i have my LM's raven out, I'm often selecting the bird as it's usually the closest thing to my party. Does anyone have a solution to this that doesn't involve dismissing/resummoning my pet ever time i interact with something?

Yeah i get the same problem with having to spam in a few times due to the "Already in Use" Message. But you can use a hotkey to select the "Next" NPC, if you are already targeting the raven.

The "F" key is the default assist key, I have my main character target the Quest NPC and then send "F" to all other characters, and "U" to everyone. That way the other 5 characters assist and get the Quest NPC as their target, and everyone interacts with the NPC. Sometimes I have to spam the key to get past that annoying "Already In Use" message.

Once I'm done turning in the quest I hit my follow macro and everyone is back to targeting the tank and off I go.

Excellent tip. I didn't know assist could work that way on friendlies. I'll juggle some keys around and start using that method.

Yes, that key combination has worked the best for me as well.

I use "F" and then "U" for interacting with friendly, barter/vendor/quest NPCs. I also use this for looting dead mobs. I set up all of my toons with "Loot All" active. Then, I set the loot rule to Master Looter so I can assign special items as I please. This way, when my inventory is full, the /follow toons will automatically pick up the excess.

I use "DEL" and then "U" for object interaction (boss chests, quest harvest items, etc.). It also works great for resource nodes. As a three-boxer, I've set up some of my toons to run around with all three harvesters (ore, wood, scholar) active. That way, I just run up to any node, hit "DEL", then "U", and I can collect everything I come across.

The one thing I really wish existed (and I would absolutely love it if someone here could tell me of some legal way of doing so) is key mapping to target ONLY opposing players in PvMP. We've got keybindings to cycle through nearest players (which, if you're on creep side will get you creeps), cycle through enemies, which if creep side will get you not only Freep players but also any NPCs within range. I would love to have a way to essentially Tab-target only through opposing player characters.

I also seriously wish Turbine would fix the /follow AI code. It just plain sucks. I cannot recall the number of times I've lost toons because of the wide-arc antics of /follow. I tried just doing direct movement mapping once--once. All it took was the first stun/root on any one toon to realize that could never work. If all of your toons are not always right on top of each other, you have no choice bu to use /follow.

As an aside, I ran into my first six-boxer on Vilya. That was really nice to see.

That was most likely me with my skirmish 6 hunter group.

After I got used to using the assist/U method, I completely forgot that the DEL/U almost never screws up (comparatively) and that I had already set a key for it =).

I still have major issues when a quest giver has multiple quests or is also a vendor. Without fail, at least one of my guys will bomb out of the selection screen, at which point its just easier to do all 6 of my guys manually.

Default A method to the madness

    Hey, Methodical...

Ah, yes, it was your hunters I came upon in Bree one evening. I gave you the names of my mains and added you to my friend's list.

How are you fairing with doing Skirmishes with your guys? I had only got my three RKs up to max level and tried several Skirms with them. It seems that the tiered difficulty increase is substantial and I have yet to overcome this aspect. I used to love doing Strike Against Danenglor with my solo hunter as it was very quick (especially if you skip the encounters and counter-attacks).

However, I have been getting my hide handed to me when attempting this same Skirm as a three-man with my RKs (each with a Protector). The fact that the end boss now spawns waves of fire grim makes it an impossibility for me to focus on the boss. If I turn to the adds, the boss chews me up. I can only imagine what the increased difficulty is like for a six-man Skirm.

I actually started three F2P accounts and have purchased three Moria boxes for the free month and RK/Warden unlock. I'm hoping that the focus fire of six toons will more than compensate for the increased difficulty of a six-man Skirm. Though...that's what I hoped when going three-box.

I hope that a different group makeup will fair better results. I imagine that six Wardens could tear stuff up.

Let me ask this: Has any multi-boxer here done three- / six-man content using nothing but LMs? I would think that, specifically in Skirms, this would be a formidable force. With pets and soldiers, you could walk into a six-man Skirm with 18 toons under your control. The same would be for Captains but I just cannot see anyone running around with six of them as there would be a lot of wasted non-overlapping/complimentary skills.

With the coming changes to LMs for the November update (whenever that may be), it looks like they will become even more powerful (I've already got my six LMs to level 10 and the power they wield is ridiculous as is). The stacking of Burning Embers will be nice (though I've yet to encounter a mob that needed more than the initial hit from six of those to take it out)--especially with the fire debuff LMs can apply.

I also think that RKs, with a little rotation change, are actual becoming more powerful ( thanks for fixing Fall to Our Wrath Turbine!).

I'm sure that I will someday switch to a mixed group setup but I'd like to get all of the same-class groups to max level first so that I am completely playing each independently.

    Happy hunting!

I have 2 interact with target binds. One works on everyone. The other only works on melee.
I used some pretty obscure keys like ` and \ for my binds. The `, since it's right below ESC, is easily spammable so I can use that in combat to keep meleers doing their thing. The other one, there's no way I'll hit it by accident or something.

Anyway as far as "F" for assist, instead I made an ASSFOCUS* macro so they're not assisting someone random, and bound it to F. This is useful for NPC questgivers vendors repairbots etc, and of course for those times you want to 5x /dance with someone.

*/assist focus . Don't be jealous of my wit.

I've seen vids of 5x LM's + a Minstrel doing 6 man content. I'd imagine you'd be pretty gimped in the healing department with 6x LM's. I've also seen vids of 5x RK's and a guardian taking on pretty much any thing. Keep in mind that any class with a pet is a balanced around having the pet. It's also a mess trying to heal people's pets in sticky situations.

Personally, I have yet to set foot in a skirmish. I have, however, beaten all the GB instances with a my 6 char mixed party. The hardest part were the gimics where you need party members split up in order to progress. Other than that, it forced me to get my healing situated.

I've been using a bind for my "select me" keymap, followed by a key that assists ('F') on press, and interact with target ('U') on release for my melee. I also have this coupled with "move to target" in order to get my melee guys to close the distance. The problem is that I have to hold the key down to manually insert a delay in the F and U, or sometimes my melee just stands there.

What is this /assist focus you speak of? As far as I know this doesn't exist in LOTRO. (your 5x /dance gave you away... lotro fellowships are usually 6 characters). I'd love to be wrong here, so enlighten me if LOTRO does have /assist focus. It would certainly make my life easier.
