Separate folders in mainly useful if you want drastically different graphics settings between the accounts.
I run all of mine from the same folder, and have been since I started boxing.
Running them all from the same folder sames some hassle with addons and updates, and saves the work of setting up virtual folders if you were considering that route.
I'm going to live forever, or die trying.

It also depends on what software you're using, since ISBoxer will handle different configurations without multiple folders.
Performance-wise, you want the same wow folder (this improves caching). There's also a workaround to use multiple folders but make them use the same wow data folder, which should improve performance. You can find how to do that somewhere around here, maybe it's in the dual-boxing wiki![]()
I think what lax means is creatin
g symbolic links in windows, search for that or symlinks
Vista and 7 do have symbolic link ability. Here's a how-to:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/
i'm using a single folder for all 4 slaves, but as Lax pointed everything is virtualized when using ISBoxer (which means each slave has it's own version of the config file and settings)
if you decide to use symbolic links, make sure you only symlink the data that needs to be cached (i.e. the data folder) and keep a separate version of the WTF folder for each toon. Don't symlink that one :-)
If you use keyclone - I find that seperate wow folders is better.
with 1 folder your have to change account name everytime too
Eonar - EU
I don't really mind the need to click the account name dropdown menu on each account since I need to use different authenticator codes anyway, having all accounts on one battle.net.
But if a new version of keyclone would come out, he could have the account name setting for the commands fixed again, since I know it would be possible.

When I was 5-boxing WOW I used separate folders for each client. It made it easier to manage settings not to mention logging in. Hard drive space isn't exactly a premium any more.
Symlinks work well too though I'm not convinced they were worth the effort.
