    Lightbulb Forum signature space

    Gday Mods,
just curious why the signature area seems to be limited in width.

I understand the height limit, which is a good thing (we don't want too much stuff in there) but not sure why there is such a small width allowed.
Not a big deal, but i think it would make the forum look smoother if we could go across the whole width of the page/cell.

for example my sig below could easily fit in 1-2 lines, instead of 4 stacked lines.
Nothing major, just curious if there's a reason behind this width limit :-)

    Cheers,
    Zub

Agreed but please don't go too wide though. I'd hate to have to constantly play with the horizontal scrollball in each thread Zub has participated in :P (before you ask : I own a large screen but I purposely keep my firefox window quite narrow because I find this more comfortable so I don't have to move my eyes a lot while reading stuff)

Signatures shouldn't detract from the post. They shouldn't be an overall distraction over the rest of the page, and they certainly shouldn't slow the page loads. That's why they're limited.

I can appreciate a well designed, graphical sig. I also like the minimalistic text-only version. A dynamic, text-only sig that is synchronized with the Armory would be slick.

Edit: What kills me is when the profile info on the left is > twice the size of the message posted.

I agree, but often one or two liner replies on a wide resolution kinda forces the left pane of a post to be rather tall. To alleviate this, I recommend grabbing the right side of your browser and pulling it to the left until the text of the reply is as tall as the left box. Good Hunting.
