I would just upgrade the Graphic card. Get a good one as you can move it to the next machine. If you feel comfortable you could overclock the CPU. 2.1 is preety slow.
See how the new card works, that does a lot of the work.
Also get a monitor that show RAM and CPU usage. That will show where the bottleneck is.
