Default Thinking about multi-boxing but have some questions

    Hi all,

I played wow for years and for the first time a froze my sub to take a break in March. I'm now looking to get back into it and was thinking about leveling a 5 toon team as it seems to revitalize and add a new twist to the game.

I currently have an account with a few level 80's which I would use as a master and add a new toon to level up with the team.

I'm sorry for the extremely newbie questions but here goes anyway

    1. Would I need to buy a further 4 copies of wow/BC and Wrath (which I'm guessing I would)?
    2. Would I need 5 completely separate accounts with 5 different email addresses or is there a way to integrate everything?
    3. My system is an AMD 955 @ 3.8ghz, 4gb DDR3, raid SSD's and an Nvidia GTX 470 is this sufficient to run 5 game instances smoothly even in raids?
    4. I have a 2nd monitor that I would use to display 4 of the five clients on, I also have a gtx 260 maxcore graphics card on my desk doing nothing, if I ran the 2nd monitor on that would that help performance any?
    5. Would I need any other software other than IBoxer and Jamba to start with?

Again, sorry for the newbie questions but I want to ensure I've covered everything I need

    Thanks

First off welcome to the world of boxing .

    1. Yes
    2. No/Yes Kinda vague but you can have all 5 accounts on one Battlenet account, but some like to split them to log in easier with authenticators.
    3. Yes it would handle it 5 boxing Dalaran would be choppy, upgrading your Ram would help alot. 8 to 12 ideally.
    4. Adding multiple monitors generally slows down performance but Im not sure someone else might be able to answer that one better than me.
    5. Isboxer is plenty in terms of software, Jamba isnt a must but helps out immensly, as well as a ton of other addons. Search for Maxions setup and view his addons.

Your nvidia 470 would be fine powering two monitors and running 5 wow's at once. No need to use another card unless you "want" to...

    Welcome to dual-boxing.

    1. You'll need an account (copy of the game) per character you wish to simultaneously play with.
    2. I would recommend an email per account (as in five Battle Net accounts), with a single authenticator tied to all five. You can put all five accounts on one B.Net email if you like, but that causes delays when logging in.
    3. Should be decent to run all five. Possibly increase the ram to 1GB (Operating System) plus 1GB (per account) for smoother play.
    4. More screen real estate might be useful; slaves on one, active toon on another. It would probably run fine like that, although two monitors would be worse performance then just one.
    5. It doesn't hurt to check out other options; I've not found anything even close to as powerful as IS Boxer. Jamba is an addon, so will work with whatever software you go with, and it is highly recommended.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

    i have no problem running 2x monitors @ 1680x1050 at 60fps using a 2mb GTX275OC

add another 4GB of ram to your machine.

this is how I would setup the new accounts to boost:

get another 4 accounts on your existing battlenet account (a,b,c &d)

RAF link a &b, and link c&d. (do not link any to your existing account)

use your 80's on the existing account to boost a,b,c &d

    Again thanks for the responses

Mikekim that sounds interesting about the accounts, I was looking into RAF but hadn't really thought about using my capped toons to boost.

On security, I do have an authenticator and was wondering if I could put up with the login delay this will cause if I put the accounts on the same battle net, I think I'd prefer to do it this way rather than have five battle net accounts. Is the delay really THAT annoying?

I don't mind the delay, I prefer to log in one at a time since I log out in Dalaran. By the time I've selected the toon and loaded halfway into the game, the code is ready for the next account. This way I can do things like log in my alchemist alts and do my transmute, or grab my mail or whatever other little "chores" I have to do before I can play while logging in my remaining accounts.
