From what I've seen, only the 1GB GTX 460's are worth anything price : performance ratio. I would save $100 and get the 460 [1GB model] over the 470 unless I could see some updated benchmarks with nVidia's updated drivers. Also, why 4GB of RAM? I use up 4GB of RAM walking through Stormwind on 5 characters. I would not recommend anything less than 8GB of RAM in a dual channel setup [like yours] or 6GB of RAM in a triple channel setup. Other than that, this looks a lot better.

I'm curious, why AMD over Intel? Price?

yea their is 8 gig there price is doubled. yea price was a factor i just dont want to pay extra for a name per say. if intel is alot better than amd i would surely grab that up but seems its more of a personal preference and i like saving moneys

I don't know Void, if you're going to blow that much cash on a rig I'd figure out a way to get 12 gigs of ram going. Or 24

Let me know how it goes. I get the first installment of my reenlistment bonus in October and I'm considering blowing ~2k on a new comp for Cata boxing.

He's buying an AMD CPU which uses dual channel memory, 12GB and 24GB aren't normally what you would see on a dual channel board [gotta be able to divide by 1,2, or 4 and fit them into 4 slots -- 3/6/9/12GB modules do not exist in the non-ECC world]. His board only supports 16GB anyway, and 16GB would cost him anywhere between $400 and $800. I suggested 8GB above, but if he can get 16GB for $400 I'd go that route.

Guess you missed his updated list which is 6 posts above yours. He has an SSD, and he doesn't even list that burner or the cooler in the updated list.

    To Void:
I just noticed, WTF do you need DDR3 2000 for? You planning on that heavy of an overclock? Your board would normally support 1333 or 1066.

Although all my computers are AMD, I would really only consider Intel I7 at this point, with a MB capable of 24g (and put in 12G if you can't afford 24 right now using 3 4G moduals).

With 24G ram you dont need SSD, you don't need a super fast cpu (920 is more then fine), you don't need a super video card (unless you want to play at all options on), although 1G is minimimun.
