Question Dual boxer thinking of 5 boxing...

I was wondering.. I currently use Keyclone.. but i've heard that isboxer is better if you go 5 boxing.. Any comments on that?

I was also wondering what it the best basic 5 man group to RAF up to 60?

Can a shaman 5 boxing team "tank, heal, and dps" any dungeon? Or is the extremely hard since they have mail after lvl 40?

My gold for a 5 box team will be dungeons for leveling, and I love pvp! I extremely love grouping up on raids against the horde / ally. (For the Alliance....or.... For the horde). 40 man raids and stuff..

Anyhow.. urmm.. I looked at the thread that suppose to help you what everyone uses for 5-man boxing.. but that is like 39 pages! Can someone sum it up? Some of the posts in there are questions, and not really making a statement on how they "setup" their 5 man boxing.

If I want to "try out" 5 man boxing.. I can send myself a RAF 10 day trail .. if later down the road i want to go 5 boxing.. I can send another RAF 10 day trail and get into 5 boxing? We get like 5 RAF emails per character right? I wonder how I'm going to send the 3rd RAF? I have 2 boxs atm.. urmm.. When I go 5 boxing maybe one of you can suggest one of your characters for the 3rd one. 2 box + 3 box = 5 box..heh

So... with the 10 day limited trail i should be able to "try" out 5 boxing to see how it goes right?

What do you recommend for 5 boxing addons?

Im not new on dual boxing.. but if I go 5 boxing im sure its much more difficult to get the swing of things on 5 box.. But I'm sure this dual boxing has trained me well.. I just hate "multi-boxing haters" and if I 5 man a dungeon.. I wont have any complainers :P

Please focus your response as if I plan to go pvp late in game..

Thanks so much for your time!

ISBoxer is better for everything, but it costs money.

Shamans can tank/heal/DPS in heroics, but only once you seriously outgear the instance. It's suggested you have a tank. If you are to purely focus on PvP and don't want to touch PvE, then play 5 shamans all you want.

If I 4 shammy and 1 tank.. which tank would you best suggest for a good pve / pvp tank?

Since you're running with shamans, I'd shy away from the pure melee. I'd go either a druid for PvP boomkin (that would be my choice) or a pally for a PvP healer. I don't think you're going to be playing a tank spec in PvP unless you're testing out a new combo.

Also, you can just run 4 toons in PvP. I like only running 4 - doesn't feel like I have too much responsibility and need to carry the whole team, while still having enough power to blow peeps up and survive an onslaught.

Well, I'd differ from the wise Owl a little there and just suggest that you could roll a Paladin if you want a PvE Tank. Then for PvP you could either run with just the 4 Shamans.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...

    Horde Caelestrasz Multiboxer:
Team1: 5xPaladin....Level 80 - Heroic gearing completed. WTB [Frost Badge] pst pls.
    Team2: 1xPaladin/4xShaman....Level 80 - On Hiatus, Awaiting Cata.

Swapped from 2x boxing to 5x in the last few weeks. Started with keyclone and one pc, found it a bit slow so moved to two computers. My setup was really really basic for dual boxing and the most complicated thing I would do was tanking a heroic with my ranged dps following and dps'ing etc... so i found I had to learn a lot more to 5 box, healing, dps'ing and tanking all at the same time. This learning lead me to want to do more and to do it easier, to this end I swapped to ISboxer last weekend and loving it! It is so damn powerful. Still learning and tweaking things and reading forum posts to learn what other cool things I can do with it.

5x boxing and learning everything that goes with it can be very daunting, I learn a bit, implement it... do a bit more levelling.. repeat.. otherwise you end up spending hours and hours and get frustrated at not levelling.

My biggest advice would be... get isoboxer, get jamba, get interact with target setup... and learn how to use them all.. Oh and make sure you understand Recruit A friend and refer from the right accounts.. there are heaps of posts on the forums about it. I referred the other 4 accounts from my main... not a good idea. But oh well. I should have read up on it.

I don't pvp, but I gather leveling via that method may still be viable and you like that so would be worth thinking about.

I had planned to level via randoms\instances, but found even though i knew the instances, there were specific things to learn for each one from a multiboxing point of view, debuffs, aoe etc etc etc. a wipe means 5 minutes + wasted... and an instance you grow out of so quickly. So i ended up just questing and found it much quicker. The downside is you end up very undergeared from your toons levels since your not getting drops from randoms. When you hit 60 do all the quests in the first part of BC to gear up your toons.

My team is now 61 or so, took me 3 days of play time to get there, a lot of this was spent learning to box and setting things up though. I'm running a Pally tank, 2x priests, 2x druids. I'm running this team simply because I wanted these classes at 80. All these classes can heal, so to start out I just had two macro's setup for each toon, heal tank or heal self. I've expanded this now to using Grid and mouse repeater stuff.

Already started a second team of 5x shaman to make use of RAF before it runs out.

Really enjoying 5x boxing. Hoping to be able to run random heroics on my main team and maybe find another 5x boxer on Dath'Remar to do some raids down the track.

If you use trial accounts to start out with, be aware you can't give them gold\bags. They can't get mail or trade etc etc etc. I ended up upgrading my accounts damn quick once I learnt this.

I used BOA gear on my tank, this mean he was getting 20%? more exp but also meant he was always semi geared. After he got to a few levels over the others I simply stopped handing in some quests in on him so the others could catch up.

i already had a few 80's on my main account when i started boxing, i started with keyclone and still use it, although i am really looking into isboxer mainly for the mouse broadcasting. i just used my 80pally and boosted the other 4 and granted levels to get the extras on my main account, i ended up with 5 of every class except for rouge and it took on average about 12-15 hours played to boost from 10-60 once i got the patterns for the dungeions down. when u can get into sm cath it goes really quick, u can do it in one pull but i found it much more efficient to do it in 3 (was faster for me as well) there are tons of guides on which dungeons to do and when. when my toons got to 55 i started in ramps and that helped them get a bit of gear, and the first few quests in hellfire finished them out, it took about another 4-5 hours to go from 60-70 after the raf quit. and another thing you cant get past lvl20 on a trial account at least i think its 20. if you got any other ?'s feel free to pm me.

Guessing he is continuing along as before, runnin through the other 4 toons with his geared 80 pally. Still seems very quick though?

Taking me a couple hours per level now, if not a bit longer. It all goes so much quicker when one is more experienced and have things setup better. and knowing the quests or instances well from doing them previously helps heaps too.
