Wink I usually don't report other players ......

.... but obvious botting is obvious.

A few days ago, after finishing a random, I ported back to Hammerfall and needed to repair. So I jumped down to the Bowyer to repair the 3 palys. There was another player that ran up to the vendor at the same time. They spent a few moments at the vendor, mounted up, keyboard turned around and started galloping away. Then they stopped, quickly turned around and went back to the vendor. At this point I quickly thought 'here comes the questioning about the 3 paly's'. But no questions come. Instead they repeat the process of mounting, turning, galloping away, turning and coming back to the vendor.

A bot stuck in a 'vendor selling/repairing' loop. Super funny to watch.

This continued and didn't stop at all. So I know botting investigations take forever yet I submitted a ticket anyway with the date time and location not expecting it to be answered for at least a day. To my amazement the ticket was answered in less than 30 minutes (no contact required) and I closed it out feeling better that my Wow civic duty had been done for the day.

Anyone else ever seen a real obvious exploit like this that made you chuckle. Keep it clean and don't violate the site TOS please.

I report bots anytime I see one. When i'm leveling up I'll always find a few in obscure locations. Then add them to my friends list and call in the dogs.

Botters suck/botting sucks, hackers suck, feel no sympathy for them

I saw an obvious bot in Hellfire Peninsula, it ran from the main ally town south along the ridgeline that all the buzzards fly around in. It ran back and forth there, killing any mobs that aggro'd it or that were in it's direct path. I watched it for almost 2 hours after I reported it (stealing most of it's kills) before it disappeared, and never showed up on my friend list again.

I found one in Nagrand, up on the elemental plateau. A Hunter running the exact same circuit for over 2 hours straight. After reporting the bot, I ran slightly ahead and tagged all the mobs he was running toward. It was kinda fun to let him kill everything, then I could stroll over and loot the corpses.

Now if only we can figure out a way to disrupt all the lvl 1 warlocks that float in the air in SW, advertising the gold selling sites.

    QFT

The floating hackers in stormwind/org need to stop. I dont report botting, as it doesn't affect me but the obvious hacking kinda bugs me.

yesterday in a bg, an enemy far far away from the battle.. running against a wall.. stopping.. two steps back.. mounting.. running against the wall.. dismounteing.. and the same thing about 30 sekonds untill i went away.

and i did NOT write a ticket!

because the last time when i did this, it was because 8 deathknight bots were farming silkspiderweb in zul drak on same spot and were OBVIOUSLY bots, the gm said he will check it and maybe they can do something.. well they are still botting o_O

gm said its not easy thing to ban someone cuz of botting.. they have to be 100% sure for that.. well ..

That's not true. The GM in my guild bans bots we report to him ALL the time. They don't need to be 100% sure, they are given the power to do anything that they feel sufficient to maintain the game world.

eh.... some botters don't affect you. Others do by selling gold, or bot using a legit players account information.

The floating Hackers represent gold sellers. Some gold sellers take it to the extreme and steal your account information or a guildies account information. Then they steal everything in your guild bank. When I see those guys floating in front of the AH in Org, I see crooked people that don't mind destroying a game or somebody elses fun for their financial well being.

Three bots in my WOW lifetime. I was in Barrens on my lone char trying to get it leveled up to match my team. I ran across a char fishing. No problem so far. But I had just found out how to do the harpy quests up north, so I was going up and back quite a bit. I see him there for like 30 mins. Dang, that is a dedicated guy fishing.... I ask him what he is fishing for (deviate fish). Nothing. I watch him and he moves in a pattern that puts him in the water up to his waist, casts like 5 times, then moves out and over to another spot and does same thing. Back and forth. He must not want the school of fish that show up cause he just ingores them and keeps doing his routine. He is lvl 6 in a moderately higher level area (15 mobs around him) and he just moves in a exactly predictable pattern. So I report him. Then move on. Report gets answered in 30 mins (back in the day). Nothing since they can't tell me what actions they took. No biggie. Next day, guess who is back. I friend him so I can check on him later. 32 hours signed on, no movement from zone, only fishing. Dang that guy is good at not sleeping. I report him again. 4 days goes by with him still there and then he disappears. Maybe they had to research how to ban him better, but it still bothered me, that I could see it, a GM could see it and nothing happened.

Next was a char fighting turtles up by the lake south of UC. He walked forward a little, targeted a mob, fought it and then skinned it, and moved forward again. Clunky movement, predictable actions, no response to whispers. Reported. I didn't check on him again, since I didn't want to see him there for a week before they acted on him.

Next one was in Shimmering Flats. Target a turtle, attack it, skin it and move on. Reported. This time, I wasn't going to let them get away with it, so I stole his kills for like 25 mins. It was a little fun, then it got to be old and I got bored. A char comes on and says, "Stop it". Opps. Did I just pick on a real person? Nope, he goes back, exactly same movement, same attacks and keeps going. There are other mobs to kill right around him. You can see like 5-8 mobs within range, but he won't switch mobs until it dies. If it was a real person, he would see it was tapped, and switch to a new mob and kill it, but he didn't.

I haven't watched close enough to bots in BGs, but other people say they are there. I would think Blizzard could track a char that always moves 5 steps left, then 3 steps right and then 25 steps forward. Maybe the bots are smarter than that, but still. Seems like they would catch them faster than we do, but it doesn't seem that way. It is like the people in the bank have to tell the police that people are robbing the bank. Isn't there supposed to be cops and a panic button to do that for us?
