Default Where do I start? :(

Hiya Dualboxing.com! I've been playing WoW for about a year now and I wanna reroll. I want to try to get to level 80 as fast as possible so I thought the best way would be to dualbox RAF! I have the two accounts and everything! I just don't know where to start! All of the guides that I've looked at are all for 5 boxing. I just want to stick with simple 2 boxing on 1 computer please! So if you could help me get started with these few questions, that would be amazing!

    1. Do you know of any guides for 2 boxing RAF easily to level 80 using 1 decent computer?

    2. Do you have any tips/suggestions for a newbie multi boxer just starting out?

Thank you so much for your time and help! Maddi

And of the 5 boxing guides still pertain to 2, just smaller scale. everything I currently do for my 2 boxing is the exact method I used when I was 5 boxing.

If you're going with one computer, then you need software to box with.

I'll recommend IS Boxer for this, although there are other options such as HotKeyNet, Keyclone, GameCommanderPro, AutoHotKey, Octopus, etc. There are free options, one-time fee options and subscription options, depending on how powerful/easy-to-setup of a software you want to go with.

You'll need an assist method. IS Boxer does FTL (which is the best system) automatically, but this can be implemented with any system. If your focus is mainly PvE, a target based system is strong. If you want to run PvP, Focus is a decent assist system too, but competitive PvP will want something where Focus is free for focusing your fire.

The basics of boxing is an assist method and follow. You can combine any two classes, via a click castsequence. Addons are up to you, I like a unit frame addon and something like Quest Helper or Carbonite. For boxing specifically, definitely check out Jamba, by Jafula; it makes a lot of boxing much easier.

Take a look at Click to Move and Interact With Target, as they make melee boxing much easier, and even if you are using 2x Ranged/Casters, they are a great option for quest givers and flight paths.

Google, combined with site:dual-boxing.com is probably the best way to find something here, if it is not stickied. If you take the time to look for yourself, the community is helpful on stuff you cannot find.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Consider the classes you may want to play to.

With dual-boxing you've got a couple of neat choices, you could for example, roll a tank and a healer. You'll find with that combination you may even be able to sneak a dungeon or two in, and certainly at end-game you'll find instantly popping random dungeons, because all you'll need is the DPS which are dime a dozen.

Alternately, you could roll 2xDPS. 2 x the same class will be most effective, both for PvE and PvP and will greatly simplify your setup, like 2 x Warlock, 2 x Mage etc.

Also consider professions. If you had 2 x clothie, you could make one a Tailor/Enchanter and the other say a Herbalist/Alchemist.

If you're absolutely definitely sticking only with 2-boxing it, probably KeyClone is all you'll need and it's very nicely priced with a one-off lifetime license fee.

If you think you're going to interested in really exploring dual-boxing (or boxing more toons) and to make some nifty moves (particularly for PvP) then ISBoxer is the way to go I reckon (especially for PvP).

As for add-ons, get Jamba. It *WILL* make it all so much easier.

As for guides to RAF-leveling, as others have said, 2 boxing is just like 5 boxing, only you probably won't level up all the way in dungeons. About the only difference is that with just 2 toons, you don't need to avoid collection quests like the plague, and depending on which classes your 2 toons are, some group quests and most dungeons will be out unless grouping up.

Consider the races of the classes you're going to make. Some dailies in Wrath (the Argent tournament series for initiaties) are dependent upon the race of the class, so 2 toons of 2 different races may end up with 2 different dailies. No idea whether that'll remain in Cata, or whether Argent Tournament was a one-off.

Personally, if I were going to 2-boxing, I'd make a Prot BE Paladin and a Holy BE Paladin as one team and 2 Warlocks for a second.

Finally, work your RAF out. For every two teams you level to 60, you can boost another pair to 60 with granted levels (though you'll need to do some transfers of some of the boosted toons).

PS: When granting your levels to your toons, make a macro for it to speed it up and stand in the middle of the IF or Org bank area when you do it. Freaks people out to see a toon level 1 to 60 in 30 seconds flat doing nothing more than sitting on its ass.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...

    Horde Caelestrasz Multiboxer:
Team1: 5xPaladin....Level 80 - Heroic gearing completed. WTB [Frost Badge] pst pls.
    Team2: 1xPaladin/4xShaman....Level 80 - On Hiatus, Awaiting Cata.

Contact on: Nevergonna on Realm Caelestrasz (Horde)

Caelestrasz Horde: 5 Active 5 Boxers and counting.

Everything they said above x100. I was hesitant to get ISBoxer and Jamba at first because I thought it might be more complicated working with more software, but it turns out to be so much easier I was kicking myself for not doing it earlier. If your time is worth more than $2 an hour, ISBoxer is a bargain.

I just got started last night useing 2 accounts, RaF connected on one comp, to try things out i set up 2 druids and where the first one has the spell Wrath on button 1, the other have a very simple macro of :
    /assist "name"
    /cast wrath

i´m useing keyclone software and the jamba addon, i did run into a few snags and as i´ve been on a "break" for the last 3 years i took some time to get used to the game again, but after 3 hours of playing / setting up the addon and configuring wow/keyclone both my toons where lvl 8!

Jamba is making things a lot easier even if i dont have it working 100% yet.

as i was trying things out yesterday, i opted for a picture in picture setup of keyclone since i dont have 2 monitors, but this doesnt work great with the default ui, but a simple fix, like moving the minimap and putting the PiP top right corner would probably solve my problems, gonna look into this soon... but if you have played for a year now i dont think you are still using the default ui =)

Ok that was funny. Ualaa has always been a big help when it comes to ISboxer.

    Heyas!

For 2-boxing I have a few recommended combos.

    DRU + SHM
    DK + SHM / PRI
    PAL + PAL/SHM/PRI
    Lock + PRI
    WAR + SHM/PRI
    ROG + DRU
    DRU + DRU
    MAG + PRI

With combos where the melee is a tank class you can easily run through instances like MC and ZG for very easy gold farming. Also 99% of the WOTLK 5man quests are a walk in the park with these combos. I prefer SHM as the healer becouse of the utilities and dual-spec between resto and ele, Also if you choose DRU as tank you can have him as Moonkin for easy PvP combo action.

As for software for dual-boxing AHK suits my needs just fine. It's free and I've ran easily my 5man team through all 5man dungeons with it.

Here is a very simple AHK script that I use (note I don't move with WSAD but have them on action bar for pewpew). Please note that there are much easier and better options out there like IS Boxer. Just pointing out that we old stoneage people also are still lurking with our C64's and what not.

If you choose to use AHK read the guides for it and copy/paste this and save as a AHK file. Make changes obviously to your own liking.

(I'll post it in a new thread as it's too long for this post)
