Thread: 3D Vision

    Default 3D Vision

I play almost every new game that comes out. I am thinking about upgrading to a 3D vision monitor. I have a GTX 280 card atm. I was thinking about upgrading that to a GTX 480 or 2 GTX 460s based on this review http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...-480,2694.html The only downside to going SLI is it does nothing for WoW. But I'm not doing this for WOW.. its all about the "other games" and movies.

questions. i box on two 24' monitors atm, both 1900x1200 res. 3d vision requires 120ghz monitors so my first upgrade will be that. Will i need two? The res on the 3D screens tops out at 1900x1080. Or can i use one for when I'm using the 3D on the other games, and use one of my current 24's for the second screen? Now i know i can box on one monitor. I have tried it and i cant stand the little thumbnail screens on the shame screen, drives me batty. So i put them on the right monitor.( still small so i can use 3/4 of the screen for web browsing.)

Short verion: I'm trying tp upgrade to be able to enjoy 3D Vision on some games, while not screwing up my boxing, using two montiors.

I bought the 3D vision stuff and sadly in my opinion its a waste of money. Very cool at first don't get me wrong, but down side it that you can NOT box while playing in 3D, or to be more precise you can't use 3D vision in anything other than full screen mode. Which stop the passing of keystrokes (keyclone). Also trying to click on things is a pain in the ass.

Too answer your question you only need 1 3D monitor. I also run a 2 monitor setup and only use 1 as the 3D.

Yea i knew i would not be able to use it while boxing. had no plan to do that. You say its a waste. How often do you play other games? If you rarely play anything else, than yea.. it would be a waste for you. I also watch Blue Ray on my PC a lot. So ill get lots of use ( more and more movies are being made in 3D now days )

    Thanks for thr response!

I have one 120hz monitor and one non120hz and use them both for boxing, and when I want 3d I just go fullscreen on the 120hz.
