Default My 5boxing experience so far

I have been 5boxing for three months now and I love it. Before this I was using two accounts for about a year and have two lvl 80 I can use to boost my groups with if needed.

What I'm happy to say surprises me is that I get many positive comments from other players about the fact I'm multiboxing. I was afraid we were hated a lot more, but many write comments like: Cool! Awesome! etc.

Only once did I get a comment saying I was a fucking multiboxer and reported. To him I just replied:
"Multiboxing is allowed, by reporting me you just prove to Blizzard you're a noob who don't know the rules".
After this he went silent and ran away.

However one thing surprises me which has happened several times. They ask what I'm supposed to do with them when reaching 80, if I'm going to sell them. Why do they think this?
And when I reply that I never will sell them they seem surprised by this...

    Valle,

I still ocassionally get the "for sale" question as well. In fact my first team, 5 x Shaman used "for sale" as their Arena team as a joke.

I guess maximum level characters go for a lot on E-Bay or character trading sites for those insanely stupid enough to "buy" an account whose transfer wouldn't be recognised by Blizzard (allowing the original owner to simply take it back at a moments notice).

More funny though, is when someone talks about how boring it must have been to level 5 Shamans (or whatever) one after another... lol.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...

    Horde Caelestrasz Multiboxer:
Team1: 5xPaladin....Level 80 - Heroic gearing completed. WTB [Frost Badge] pst pls.

I would change "don't know the rules" to "doesn't know the rules" if it's going to be a macro type reply always want to avoid giving them cannon fodder

I had someone call me retarded the other day. A couple of snarky remarks later I ask the guy "Do you consider yourself fairly intelligent?" He replied "No". ROFL. He said cya later and left. Bizarre.

I have been 5 boxing about the same length of time and had a very similar experience. For every bad comment or insult I have had 10 or 20 good comments or people asking about my setup.

I did have one guy who started off accusing me of botting, and by the end of the conversation had cancelled his GM ticket and took one of my shaman's places in AN normal so he didn't have to queue in the dungeon finder. The experience totally turned around his view of multiboxers after seeing one in action and asking me a few questions, we still do dungeons from time to time.

I also went AFK in Dalaran one time and came back to find about a dozen people gathered around my team having a heated debate about multiboxing. As to be expected the pro-boxers were winning and making the anti-boxers look foolish. I did learn my lesson not to go afk in crowded places though

The thing I have noticed, both from my experiences and from reading the forums etc. is that it seems to be 2 things which drive the negativity:

Ignorance: Can usually be countered by education. Of we course we don't have the patience or time a lot of the time to explain everything to people(and why should we have?) but answering a couple of questions or even just posting a link can go along way.

Jealousy: Tend to be the kids I think who can't afford 5 accounts with their pocket money. There seems to be a lot of this driving the hate on the forums but I have never seen it in game.
    Team A: Paladin & 4 Shaman - Level 74
Team B: Bear, Lock, Lock, Shadow Priest, Tree - Level 62
    Team C: Warrior, 3 Mages, Paladin - Level 62
    Team D: 4 Death Knights, Priest - Level 62

I assume they think you'll sell 'em because they don't know what you would do at 80 - a LOT of people I have run across insist that it is way too hard to do even parts of heroics as a multi-boxer, or that battlegrounds are not feasible, so the accounts must be for sale or part of some leveling for pay scheme.

Some of the positive people also asks if it isn't expensive to keep all five accounts active.
My reply to this usually is that all hobbies cost money, and this happens to be my hobby.

I fully agree about the ignorance part. Because it seems that the most negative ones are usually those who don't know how multiboxing works. And according to them; if you don't understand it, it must be cheating.

Another (in my opinion) positive thing about multiboxing is that now it feels like I'm really rooted in this game and WoW really is my "home" in the mmorpg world. Having several accounts and many characters have more or less eliminated my lust for trying out other games. WoW is my game now and this is where I want to invest both my time and money in the future.
