The only time I have had issues with getting an ASUS motherboard to boot was when the RAM was not on the QVL.
If it doesn't boot it will be hard to change the timing to get it to run, if the default does not work.
Not saying it will not work, just you may find your self in a jam with nothing to do but buy new RAM.

edit -- I have put together 5 ASUS machines todate, the latest a P6X58D-E all work out of the box except the one I mentioned above
