Default Interesting Runes of Magic CS reply

So RoM has always been something I wanted to box, but my pc at the time couldnt hack it. A recent upgrade has since fixed the issue and my new rig easily can run 6 clients.

However, boxing seems to be a bit of a grey area there.

Originally Multi "boxing" (one client per box) was allowed, but Multi "clienting" wasnt. Now Multi "clienting" is, but Multi "boxing" isnt... talk about a strange set of rules.

Well when asking for clarification in this thread. I got plenty of community responses but none from the GM staff...they were posting to other threads but ignoring mine. I direct PM'ed 4 staff members, and after a week still got no response.

I tried submitting a ticket, and finally got this as a reply.

My original question was as follows:

I have made a forum post here (http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=46164) and pm'ed 4 gm's on the forums but have yet to get an answer.

I am wanting to multibox Runes of Magic (6 accounts on one PC) and Multicast my keyboard.

Multicasting can be done with either software or hardware and basically just means sending your keystrokes to all clients.

For example, if I press space bar they all jump, if I press 1 they all melee attack.

However, there is no automation. I must press each key and with out me pressing keys there is no action done.

In the past I have done this in WoW, EQ2, LOTRO, and EvE online where it is legal and allowed.

Last year I pm'ed Navibo and was told multiboxing was perfectly fine, however I was never told if multicasting is allowed. Most of the time its assumed as its impossible to six box with out multicasting effectively...

So, just to clarify, am I allowed to run 6 clients of ROM and multicast my keyboard while doing so? I just want to know before I buy diamonds or invest time in the game.

For a video of what multicasting looks like you can watch this youtube clip.

And a community that focuses on this type of play at www.dual-boxing.com

Please let me know if this is allowed or if you have any other questions for me.
Here is the response I got.

    Hello,

According to the Terms of Service, Multi-clienting is not a violation of the rules.

Multi-boxing, or logging into accounts from multiple computers in different location is a violation of the ToS.

So long as you are only multi-clienting as you multi-cast you are alright, so long as you are not using any third party programs,

    With kind regards
    US RoM Support
I just find it amusing that Im allowed to multicast...just not using software? /boggle So confused.

ROM customer service is legendary for being unclear about their stance on multiboxing. seems things haven't changed.

Multi-boxing, or logging into accounts from multiple computers in different location is a violation of the ToS.
What i understand from that is that it's ok to use several accounts on 1 machine, but not ok to use the same account on several machines.

yeah but specifically says no using software to multicast.

Meh half tempted to just play anyway... doubt they would do anything about it.

That sounds like the standard "no 3 party (automation) software" allowed. Same as Blizzards statement. Or in other words no unattended play and such. I think you will be fine.

The other comment about multiple machines probably means multiple IP's and violating the laws of physics in between log ins. Log in from Dallas then log in from Chicago 5 minutes later.

Sounds like you can still hardware box as long as all the computers are in the same room, pretty much.
