I'm leveling my 5 paly's without RAF and am enjoying the experience. To me it's all about expectations and perception and since I'm playing alliance characters for once I'm not even thinking about how long it takes because I'm enjoying the content I've never really even seen before.
I doubt I could play 1-60 on horde anytime soon because I've done it soooo many times with and without RAF that I'd think I'd vomit if I tried.
Once CATA goes live I'm sure I will be able to roll some new horldings since everything will have changed.

I love the smell of electrocution in the morning!
My current team, 5 x Paladin, was leveled entirely without RAF or even any Heirlooms.
1-60 I spent most of my time in dungeons. Once you hit 60, it gets a lot easier, and since RAF cuts out at 60 anyway, I don't feel like I lost much by not using RAF this time.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...
Horde Caelestrasz Multiboxer:
Team1: 5xPaladin....Level 80 - Heroic gearing completed. WTB [Frost Badge] pst pls.
Team2: 1xPaladin/4xShaman....Level 80 - On Hiatus, Awaiting Cata.
Contact on: Nevergonna on Realm Caelestrasz (Horde)
Caelestrasz Horde: 5 Active 5 Boxers and counting.
Yeah, I'm in the situation where I consolidated my team down onto a single account a while back and so now have 9 alliance @ 80 on one server and my Horde on another server.
I'm not going to worry about RAF'ing though as doing more than 1 team is just cost-prohibitve to transfer across and since I only need to level characters on the other 4 accounts, I'm just going to boost with one of the tanks on horde and alliance side as I feel the need to create a new team to go with something I already have.
I'm going to attempt to run 5 Worgens in cata, without RAF. I wonder how long I last though, since I usually hate the leveling process. Hopefully with all the new content, I won't feel bored as quickly.
Basically it amounts to what you have more of time and patience, or money. I usually run out of patience before I run out of money, so I make a vanilla account or 2, boost em up and xfer to my main account. Plus its a great way to get the rocket mounts....
Depending on how many toons you have now, and want to level up, you could either buy 3 new accounts, and xfer your existing toons from those 3 accts over, or you could just buy 2 new accounts, boost 4 at a time, and xfer half to the pre existing accounts. Or start completely over. There are a ton of choices.
I caved in and got RAF. Only need 3 new accounts, so $60 and another $60 for transfers when they ding 60. Totally worth it IMO.

When I'm leveling alts I have a whole bunch of teams that are leveling in different ways - one through only box friendly quests, one through doing EVERY quest, one through battlegrounds, one through instances, etc. It's slow without RAF, but can be fun.
I'm kind of looking forward to starting a new team 1-85 when Cata launches... I might actually re-roll on a server with more boxers if I do that.

I'm going to live forever, or die trying.

Getting to level 10 is killing you?
I am leveling two groups of five (leap frogging each other 10 levels at a time). Its pretty trivial leveling them.
The pvp server thing sort of makes it a bit more boring than I had hoped as there are some quests I would like to do that are great XP. Sort of amusing that I am in Northrend never having been in Outlands besides hellfire to turn for maybe 5 quests right around town and shatt for a moment for crafting trainers.
I finally saw another guildmate for the first time the other day in Northrend (one of the few days outside an instance or Dal). Though they all seem to have 80s escorting them. The last time I used that method the xp hit was awful.
