Your not actually using the digtial interface your using the Analog part of DVI which was included for compatabilty with VGA.
I know that a 5770 will produce 1920x1080 if you use a digital interface.
I am currently using a single 5870 to drive 3 - 24 inch displays each at 1920X1080
Seriously, try a DVI or HDMI cable and I think your problem will go away.
And you will get a better picture as well
There is the other possiblity that the monitor is not capable of 1920X1080 and the old video card was driving it at it maximum resolution of 1600X1200 even though you set it to 1920X1080.
-- edit if you open the Catalyst control Center and select "Display option" on the Graphics pull down tab it will show you the video adapter and in brackets the model number of the display that is connected to it, if the monitor supports that function.
then you would know for sure what resolutions it supports.

if you are stuck in a 90's timewarp
do you have any other inputs on this monitor, or are you just stuck with vga? you have said that this has no DVI, but do you have a HDMI input that you can run a DVI to HDMI convertor on (as this is what i do on 2 of my monitors - HP2207h).
Problem is Benq has sold several different 22" models most of them don't support 1920X1080.
If the monitor doesn't have a DVI or HDMI connector I don't think it will support an HDTV resolution.
But to help him we need information from his actual equipment. The real model number form the monitor
or what the monitor is reporting to the video driver would really decide this issue.
right, I just got confused when the monitor went from a Benq to a samsung
RAF Tour Guide files are obsolete, I went to Zygor
MultiBoxers play with themselves
i got my video card to show the 1920 x 1080 resolution but when itas applied my screen goes all distorted like squashed and stretched, my guild mate suggested using a dvi cable ( full pins), getting one tonight on my way home,
got nothing to lose right, but how can the cable make the difference?
my monito is a Benq E2200
