Default pc upgraded resolution problem with 5770 graphics

hi guys just upgraded my pc

    12gb ram
    gigabyte x58 m/b
    12gb ram corsair ddr3 1333
    ATI gigabyte 5770

im using a 22" monitor, which has a resolution of 1920x1080, but it isnt showing up in my screen resolution, highest being 1600x1200, can anything be done?

make sure you have updated ATI drivers, after that check and make sure monitor can do that most 22" monitors cant do more than 1600x1200. 24" are the ones i see doing you resolution.

I believe in the control center it will tell you the model number of the display it thinks it is connected to.
Many of the 22' displays are not capable of 1920X1080 but some are.

Also some where on the monitor there will be a name plate that will have the model number on it.
Look up the model number and check if it can do 1920X1080.

If it can support 1920X1080 then likely your problem is the drivers are old and you need to get the lastest ones.

This monitor offers 3 types of display -

    VGA

    DVI

    HDMI

unlike samsung monitors which still doesnt have HDMI port

and also there were AUDIO IN and AUDIO out - i dont know the use of audio in port

The video quality through the VGA cable is awesome

and the maximum resolution is upto 1920 x 1080

Are you using the VGA interface ?

The Video Card vendor may have cheaped out on the VGA interface.
The GPU is capable of more then 1920x1080 but the actual interface circuit may be limited to a lower bandwidth to prevent RF emmisions.

    Try the DVI interface.

if you are stuck in a 90's timewarp

do you have any other inputs on this monitor, or are you just stuck with vga? you have said that this has no DVI, but do you have a HDMI input that you can run a DVI to HDMI convertor on (as this is what i do on 2 of my monitors - HP2207h).
