    Default focus macros and wintergrasp?

My groups are now built on using focus. My follow macro looks:

    /clearfocus
    /focus [@char1, exists, nodead][@char2, exists, nodead][@char3,exists, nodead][@char4, exists, nodead]
    /follow focus

However this only works while in a group. So what will happen when I reach 78+ and want to try out wintergrasp battles? If I'm unlucky my chars may end up in different raid groups and my macros won't work, or?

replace @char# with the actual character name.

Yes, I have my char names there. Just replaced the names with char# when posting here. ;-)

Then your macros will still work..

My macro is basically the same as yours, but with a little different setup

    /target [@toon1,nodead][@toon2,nodead][@toon3,nodead][@toon4,nodead][@toon1]
    /follow
    /focus
    /assist

and then all the slaves use [@focustarget] in their cast macros.

The above macro makes sure that a living character is the controlling one at all times, and is perfect both for PVE and PVP (I do WG a lot) and allows for fast switching of master by simply moving your mouse to the next living toon in a specific order (In my case it's Master (main screen), then the 4 slaves on the 2nd screen in order top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right.
The /assist I have in there as a utility, for instance if I want to ress someone with a slave, just target with master, hit the button and then hit the hotkey for that slave's ress etc etc..

As long as you use the characters names, they do not have to be grouped up with eachother. In fact, I often end up in two different raids, and 5 separate groups when I go to WG, but it makes absolutely no difference, other than annoyance for not having a good overview over health etc, but Jamba takes care of that for me.

Edit: Why the /clearfocus at the start of your macro? if your slaves currently have a focus target, they will simply switch to the new one when ordered..

I tried your macro and (just like my macro) it only works when in a group. If trying the macro while all my toons are not in a group my slaves just keep saying 'I have no target'.

I don't see how that can be..

Here's the macro I'm currently using, and this one is being used in Wintergrasp too..

    /target [target=Eothera,nodead]; [target=Eothina,nodead]; [target=Eothine,nodead]; [target=Eosanna,nodead]; [target=Eothera]
    /follow
    /focus
    /assist

OBS.. I forgot to put in the semicolons in the macro I posted earlier.. Those semicolons are vital..

    okay, I'll try again.
One question, why do you repeat and state your toon1 again at the end?

Edit: It it that last [target=toonname] which makes it work outside a group I just discovered.
Those with parameter nodead needs a group to work.

I could be mistaken, but if you're not in the same raid/group then you cannot use the focus based system. This is usually only a problem in WG when your toons may be split up.

Any reason you're staying with focus based instead of FTL?

lol.. I use the above macro for all my groups (with different names of course), and I use it ungrouped, grouped, raids etc.. I have geared up both my level 80 teams using wintergrasp, so I know it works.
And the macro targets a named character, so it doesn't really matter if it's in a group or not.. You can run around in Dalaran, spamming a macro that says /target [target=idiot] /focus and if someone should show up in Dal with a toon called "idiot", your toon will both target it, and focus on it...

The "nodead" modifier I use so that the toons will actually switch leader if the current master is dead but not released (I don't release until all 5 are dead if I can avoid it) and the repeating of the "toon1" at the end of the macro, is because when they are all dead, the "nodead" modifier will break the macro..

So the concept behind the macro is this:

button pressed, check if toon 1 is alive, and follow/focus/assist him, if he is dead, check if toon 2 is alive and follow/focus/assist him, if 2 is dead, then check 3, if 3 is dead, check 4, if 4 is dead, then 5 is most likely dead too, so follow the ghost of toon 1.
