    Default Stop preparing for Cata!

I've seen quite a few posts from a bunch of you guys with what plans you have to "Prepare for Cata". I've been tempted to do the same, like making a bunch of gold, getting full PVE T10 gear, level more professions, level more teams so "I'm ready when Cata hits" etc. But then I realized, if I do all this stuff now before Cata, I might end up being bored 3 months after Cata release.

This is exactly what happened in S8, I rushed to do everything as fast as possible and now it's been a couple of months plus 4 more months to go until Cata of being bored. So total of 6 months of burn out because I was greedy and I wanted everything as quickly as possible.

So I stopped making any plans for Cata and whatever happens, happens. If I realize at the beginning of Cata that my current comp no longer works, no problem, I will start another comp. If I realize I need other professions to make money, no problem, I will level other professions.

This is just like when you have a hard project at work, and you start spending extra hours thinking that you have so much work to do. But work never ends, it will always be there, for the rest or your life, until you retire or die prematurely of too much stress.

So when the work day officially ends, you put aside all work, you free your mind of anything related to it, and you go home to family, wow, sports, whatever makes you feel good.

So if you give WoW the same treatment as work, there's a bigger chance you will keep enjoying it for a very long time, instead of having bursts of excitement followed by months of boredom between patches, expansions, etc.

I'm looking forward to start Cata, without knowing ANYTHING upfront. I'm going to stop hunting down Cata information as if it's a drug. If I happen to run into something on forums, fine, but I won't go out of my way to find out about talents, spells, professions, theorycrafting, etc.

I want Cata to feel like a new game for me, where I enter the world to have no freaking clue what to do or where to go. I want to be overwhelmed by the uknown ahead of me, instead of knowing everything upfront and rushing to be the first to hit 85, the first to have all the best PVP gear, the first to hit the JC market hard, etc.

So, in my opinion, if you're doing all sort of planing for Cata, stop and relax and do something that you feel like doing and you enjoy, instead of doing something that you think you HAVE to do it, otherwise you will be left behind when Cata releases.

We all play this game for different reasons, preparing for cata is fun to me and what I want to be doing.

I love the new expansion rush, getting to the new lvl cap really fast, etc.

Same, but in general... not for a specific team.

Burnout is something all players deal with at one point or another, if a GOAL is to prepare for cata to have fun in the future then why stop?

My thinking is along the same line as Firstcow so I canceled my accounts and decided to get back in shape. I'll reactivate them once cata hits and I see what combo's are what

Life has a way of keeping me from burnout.

About a month and a half ago, My power supply went up in flames, Then a few Appliances all went at the same time. Had a funeral I had to pay for right after Fathers day.

So I was offline for quite a while there. So I'm slowly getting back online when Boom, Keylogger discovered, and I wait in Cue to get my gear back.

But I believe JoeWunsch is correct here. I'm not so much worried about gear now, esp since I had some time away. sure I have three or four toons in 5400+ GS, But for me now, It's all about making some gold. Now I'll never be one of those guys who make 233 million or whatever the limit is, But a few mil would be nice going into the game.

Then when it hits, Gear from quests, The joy of putting teams all together as I hear CC will be big at first.

I look forward to new challenges like that.

the only thing i see worth of doing right now, is achievements for old zones and instances that will/might disappear in cata.
The rest will still be there tomorrow for us to do ;-)

It's tough enough to grind out the daily heroic anymore lol. Hard to have motivation for gear with the incoming gear wipe.

Everyone should have 'some' Catalysm preperation in mind imho. Things are going to be very expensive. Going into Cat without a nestegg means you'll be grinding gold from the beginning.

It may be six months away but that really is nothing. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a time machine it flies by so quickly.
