Default Maybe no follow breaks due to phasing in Cata

I found this while reading WoWInsider.com (I won't just call it wow.com, it doesn't deserve to have a game name that isn't the game).

"Remember, in Cata you can set other party members to your current phasing, so you may very well be able to see the hot rods if you have a low level goblin friend."
(http://www.wow.com/2010/07/13/the-qu...is-right-here/) about 2/3 way down page at the time

This would make summoning outside ICC better. It would make follow not break when you fly/ride over stuff. It would let you help friends on earlier quests. It would just be so much better.

Maybe someone else has heard of other new/cool stuff that would not make things suck so much in Cata. Last biggest thing for me before this was IAWT. That was HOT. Maybe they will make some new cool things also.

    Wishlist:
    1) Multiple authenticators on 1 account (so can use phone, but if phone dies, can use a normal keyfob).

    2) Multiple sign ins with one auth code (so can have multiple WOWs sign in simultaneously on one B.Net).

    3) Account mail and really wishing here, but account bank. I am in my own guild so I can share stuff between chars. But imagine for a sec if BOAs were truely BOAs. Mail cross-realm and a guild bank style bank for all your chars. No matter realm.

    4) BG queueing that respects groups. It would put groups that sign up together in a group when they got in a BG. No more splitting people up that sign up together.

    5) Account wide achievements and account wide rep, but make them 3-5 times harder to get. It might seem like a punishment or nerf, but to be able to always work on an item instead of only using 1 char to do it, seems nice.

    6) This is too much of a wish, but have AOE spells be targetable on a mob. So cast Death and Decay around a mob that you have targeted. Have Blizzard cast around a mob you have targeted. Make it an option either in a macro or on a combat option in options of the game. That would make AOEs sooo much easier to use. The problem is Cata will pretty much kill AOEs, but for boxers it still would be nice.

    7) Have a second/third focus. You could have one set to your tank. One to your healer and one to a mob to CC. Use tank one to assist. Mob one to CC and then save your healer by getting the mob off him/her when pulls aggro. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it would really be nice for me. Or maybe give macro options for TANK, HEALER, MOB. Does same thing, just not a UI target shown.

    8) This is just me, but native support for G15/Nostromo/etc. You can push a key on them and it can be used as a keybind in game. Not ALT-CTRL-C, SHIFT-CTRL-F1, but really G1, N23, G15, etc. That would be really nice.

    9) Options for BG or LFD roles. (Full on offense. Full defense. Take objectives. Kill players.) Make people pick a roll and put those kinds of people together. You could be a high GS nuke blasting machine and get put together with other like minded people. You could actually want to do the bosses and get put with other people like you. You could actually want to cap and hold flags/nodes and actually get put with people like you. You could just want to HK all day and never take anything and get put with people like you. BG's will be North America or Europe wide, so you will have lots of people to choose from.

What is on your wishlist? Or what would be a game changer?

The phasing is quite welcome. I've heard a little about this, on the beta forum earlier. Good to hear it is going ahead.

At the moment, the choice is all of the accounts on one battle.net or a battle net per account. So you basically have to choose between ease of logging in vs ease of managing multiple accounts. It would be nice to be able to merge the accounts into a single battle net, but retain one code to log them all in.

Not sure how BG's and Rated BG's will work. This one will be a major factor in deciding whether to continue with Cataclysm as a boxer who is more hardcore/casual. I want to join as a group of five, but be able to run rated BG's often. From what I've read, you'll need to queue as a 10, 15 or 25 man rated group, which would limit rated BG's quite a bit.

I don't see the ground target AoE's being targetable on a specific creature. Aside from Seed of Corruption, they don't seem to follow this mechanic. Not saying it wouldn't be fun or cool or make boxing/solo play easier.

How did you read that and extrapolate that it would fix phasing follow breaks? Phasing is a binary option: either you're in your team's phase or you're not. Follow breaks are a result of the lag between one group member entering a phase and the other clients getting server notification that said person has entered the phase. During that delay, the player "disappears" momentarily, causing the follow break.

    Apples and Oranges.

I think from what ive seen from cata beta videos, is that phasing isnt when u move through a zone, it moves around you. We will have to wait and see how a party is affected by the phasing changes.

I think that is an artifact of entire zones being phased. I'd bet money they haven't changed the fundamentals of phasing such that transition state lag is eliminated as the only people affected by it are multiboxers and people trying to chase down that flying rogue that ganked them a few minutes ago on Chillmaw. Not enough for them to even consider it something that needs attention, IMO.

While I doubt the issue will be resolved, it doesn't only affect multiboxers...

When a single player hits the phasing in Icecrown the mobs can take quite some time to 'appear'... meaning if you're on the ground you can agro a pack before you can even see it. Not something Blizzard will probably address, but still a annoyance for single players.

Fair enough, though I can't recall any spots where phasing lag actually caused me unwanted aggro while I was leveling or still using ground mounts.

If larger areas are phased instead of having to cross like 3-5 boundaries all right next to each other (like that area between Malykriss and the front of ICC...holy shit what a PITA), that would definitely make things much easier.

If you're talkin about that gate between the BBC mounts and the dragons flying, and giants roaming, then yes, I've had lag aggro here a couple times. After that, I've learned to fly much higher up over the dragons, then just do BBC last and hearth out once done. I have noticed on my main team tho, the ones I've run in IC more than any other, that the more times I fly/ride through these phase crossovers, the less often my slaves break follow. Used to be, they'd break follow everytime I fly over the pit by the north of ICC while flying to the ships to turn in quests. Now, they don't one bit. That gate still does it once in a while, but not often. Depends on how bad my server lag is I guess.

I would love this one also, I use the keybob at home, but I could log in at work on my iPhone for character management issues.
