Apparently, anyone with a bit of addon knowledge can do this. I haven't given much thought to the implications but I suspect this will be an interesting discussion thread (or 100) on the official forums. No opt-out here it would seem.

Yep, there are a few add-on's that do it already (I'm searching for them now) but its kinda scary that they left that hole in the system.

For the moment I'm assuming this could reveal only our account names right? Not our actual true names?

I've never made, posted or even thought of uttering the words "I quit if this happens", but my real life identity is far more important to me that WoW is.

Look at the screenshot again. He wrote an addon that dumped the person's RL first/last name just by mousing over them and hitting a key.
