Default Thinking of switching to ISBoxer

One question up front. There are two categories here in this forum. One ISBoxer and the other Innerspace. These are the same, right?

I just watched the video on Lax's site and it showed it was incredibly easy to setup. I did try an eval a while back before the wizard was introduced and just couldn't get it setup. The way it is now looks like it would be very easy to drop new toons into a team and pretty much be ready to go into a dungeon. This correct? I find it hard to drop in toons with my current setup.

Since WoW destroyed clickrandom I went to the 'click' method on some of my toons. How easy is this to do with ISBoxer? And I am currently using macaroon for my action bars. Any issues using that? I like the larger macros it gives.

I was wondering the same thing, blast3r.

The videos go a bit faster than I would like sometimes and I am left wondering, "Alright what's going on here?" Damn language barrier! (google translate is my friend)

    Blastr,

As I understand it, Innerspace is the core software. ISBoxer is like an application that utilizes Innerspace functionality to do what it does.

Going to Innerspace/ISBoxer is definitely worth it, but I wouldn't do so thinking it will be an easy transition. If you aren't planning on spending at least four hours getting it set up correctly and tweaking things to get the right feel for you, I wouldn't start the transition.

If you are planning to switch toons in and out of teams (as I do frequently), I would suggest not telling the wizard to set up Jamba for you. I let it set up Jamba for my first set of ten toons and any others I load in are rather wonky (I still need to fix this).

I killed the FTL keymap right away when I installed it and created another keymap that simply passes all keys 1-0 (and - and +). After doing that I was able to use all my old macros just as they were (including crazy-long macros using SuperDuperMacro).

It won't be easy or fun to get it all set up, but it is soooo worth it.

Just don't switch over today. There was an update yesterday to IS and some of us are having issues with it working. If you have trouble with it, you won't know if it's the bug, or if you are just doing something wrong. But it is definitely a nice program. ISBoxer is the tool you use to set up the "script" to run your games. After you export your setup into IS, you can close the ISBoxer.

The update yesterday was reverted, anyone having trouble can just restart their IS and any new problems are gone. I'm correcting those issues before the patch goes live again. The state of IS at the moment is the same as it has been since last August.

As far as the amount of time it takes you to switch, it really depends on how complex your setup currently is, and how closely you want to mirror it. A lot of people are done within a few minutes, between the Quick Setup Wizard and the "Many new Mapped Keys" generator.

As far as switching toons in and out of teams, I do this too. It's perfectly fine to do this, ISBoxer will sync your Jamba team to whatever set of toons you configure. I'm not sure what trouble Mercurio was having, but if you're switching toons on the fly you're going to want to switch it in the Character Set, Export, and either log out to character selection or do a /reloadui. If you don't, then the ISBoxer Addon is still going to have macros active that specify the previous character, and it's still going to insist on putting the previous character in your Jamba team.

Then if you've got a bunch of macros configured in-game specifically for multiboxing, that may or may not get in the way. If you're currently using a focus-based setup, you'll either want to drop that or the FTL. Mercurio for example says he kept his original setup, which since he removed the FTL probably has auto-assist built into the in-game macros (or he'd have to manually assist with an assist key). With ISBoxer, the idea is that you should never have to make macros in-game specifically for multiboxing -- it should be no different in-game than playing solo, except you have several characters. It's much quicker to switch to ISBoxer if you don't have tons of in-game macros specifically for multiboxing.

Anyhow, here's the two guides that you might want for your initial setup (then Ualaa's guide after that when you want more complicated stuff later)

    hey blast welcome back !!!

I switched from Keyclone to ISboxer and haven't looked back. I suggest setting your keybinds back to default and letting ISB do the work. I had a little trouble a first too. If you have more than one toon on each account, and if you haven't merged your accounts, rembering which toon is on what account could be a little taxing. That's not the software's fault though. BTW, if you plan to use one authenticator across multiple accounts, I found it easier to keep your accounts seperate and not merge them all. I can use one / the same authenticator number accross all my accounts. It seems as if you are unable to do that if you have your accounts merged

While I can certainly get rolling in under 40 seconds now... that wasn't the case the first time I used ISB. Don't confuse getting started with understanding how ISB does things. I found myself wondering a lot. What helped me the most was Ualaa's guide and having ISB open when reading it. I also set up some new toons and rolled with them for a bit while using Ualaa's guide. Starting with fresh toons to learn ISB helped a lot. However, I'm sure there are some people out there that "get it" right away. I'm just not one of those people. I'm an old dog, and these are new tricks

Setting up your displays can be a bother at first because the wizard is limited in its options. I have multiple monitors, and I find it easier to say no thanks to that part of the wizard. I just apply one of the window layouts I've already created. You wont have that at first, but manually setting up layouts isn't that difficult. As a matter of fact, once you give this software some time, pretty much anything you need to do is fairly simple.

As for macros, you might want to consider JAMBA. You can use whatever action bar program you like and write your macros in Jamba.

Anyway, this is great software. Have fun!

I had 5 on the same bnet account and it usually logged 2 or 3 in with the same number, the others had to wait for a new number.

Got me thinking... If I call Blizzard would they split them for me? This method of 5 bnets sounds a lot better tbh.

Edit: might ask this as well: Is it only the costs for innerspace or do I have to pay for ISboxer as well, if I`m correct it`s 12dolars for 3 months?

    Sorry for stealing the topic:-)

Lax, sorry to just be getting back to this issue, but I tried to fix it again today and had no luck.

    You said:

I switch toons out constantly for this or that. I have 35 level 80s and will swap them out to try different things, to get a shot at a drop off a certain boss after an instance is halfway run, to use a toon for a particular profession, etc, etc.

Maybe I'm being lazy, but it sounds like a big pain to me to have to go into ISBoxer, change teams/characters, and export every time I want to swtich toons. Here's how I use ISBoxer - I only have ten characters listed under "Characters". I have no character-specific macros in ISBoxer. I put five characters in one team on my first computer and the other five on my second computer. I launch WoW and 5 windows launch on each computer. I log in on all at once, then pick whatever server and characters I want to play. Everything works perfectly except one thing - Jamba is broken b/c ISBoxer automatically changes my settings so that only the ten characters listed in ISBoxer are in the Jamba profile and they are all checked. So when I play those exact ten characters, all is well. However, when I play some (or more likely) none of those characters, my chat screen is constantly spammed by the message:

"No player named 'Jack1' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack2' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack3' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack4' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack5' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack6' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack7' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack8' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack9' is currently playing"
"No player named 'Jack10' is currently playing"

Everytime something I might care about in general, trade or guild chat is said, I better look quickly or the Jamba spam scrolls it out of viewable text. The other functions in Jamba are wonky as well b/c the other characters that my toons are more likely to be playing with are unchecked automatically by ISBoxer.

I tried setting up a new Character Set from scratch and unchecked all of the default configuration options, but ISBoxer still automatically (dis)configures Jamba for me. I'm going to have to turn Jamba off entirely if I can't find another solution.

Is there any way you could give users the option of having ISBoxer auto-configure Jamba? Or is there another solution to this issue?

I do want to say again that ISBoxer is absolutely fabulous. It is sad to have this wall of text only talking about a complaint I have, but it is rather frustrating to have to give up either chat or Jamba to use ISBoxer.

Thank you for all the support, you really do rock for spending so much time making such a great tool!

Merc I have no idea since I don't use Jamba, but perhaps a big question like that deserves it's own thread? Lax might not see this at all...
