    Default arena outlast team

This seems like a new topic, but it might have come up a few years back?

I haven't done arena since BC, but I remember fighting teams that were purely designed to outlast the other team, especially in 5s. They ran 2 pure healers, hybrid healers, and did not allow the other team to get a kill. Then when your team was low mana, cooldowns etc, they'd mop up. They were vulnerable to 4 dps teams, but I remember it being more of a wash and user error determining the match. This was around the 1600-1800 bracket or so. I never broke 1900.

I've boxed this is bgs, running 3-5 trees or 3-5 resto shaman, mainly when I was leveling and too low to contribute. it's hilarious to watch magma totems burn people down as your healing totems and chain heals put out massive numbers.

Has anyone tried this in arena? 5 resto shaman, let the other team swarm, heal through it and wear them down with aoe and weaker, but focus fired, nukes? I was also running some math on paper with 3 resto and 2 elemental, or 2 resto 3 elemental. The contrarian in me is tempted to try 4 healers and a nuker :-)

I haven't geared or dual specced my shaman and before i commit to the time i'd like a couple pros to point out the obvious wall i'm about to crash into.

most of what i've read on the forums is how to insta-gibb and then clean up. Has anyone tried making the match as long as possible? Or is that not on the table in WOTLK?

You wont outlast anyone. one healer or one Elemental shaman could out-heal your DPS as healers, and the other healer will always be drinking to full while the DPS will keep pressure on you and ekep you in combat for the entirety of the game.

They will always outlast you, unfortunately.

you cant even pull one of your toons away and drink too, one DPS or one healer will never die to your DPS and can mess with your toon trying to drink.

BGs its fun because you have other DPS to heal, but I can't imagine you winning an arena match like this hehe, sorry XD

This is why I ask, my theory-crafting always takes hard left turns into broken teams. So lame to put in a couple months and realize it doesn't work. My priest and 4x hunter team all over again, had I only rolled a pure tank and 3 hunters . . . oh well :-)

Still, accepting the fact that you will not win, I wonder how long you could drag it out . . . if i can't compete until I have the gear I at least want to make them earn the win lol.

Not to mention outlasting someone means 30 min games and who wants to do that 10 times a week?

Triple healer Hunter / lock works

But its a mana drain / outlast team.

That's cool to know. I was hoping someone had some experience with the concept, I could look at a couple locks or hunters to add that functionality.

As far as the 30 min game thing goes. If I could force that to happen, just once mind you, I'd call it a win :-) Especially with crap gear, that would be good for a laugh. Who knows, could start a new trend of QQ: "if you think the 5 lava bursts suck . . . "

It wouldn't be a multiboxing team, theres ton's of LOSing, kiting and hiding from everything :P.
Basically the druid / holy paladin heal the shit outa everything, while the disc priest / hunter / warlock mana drain the healer to hell and back.

well, i goofed around with a hybrid elem/resto spec, basically targeting aoe damage and earthshield 29/0/42.

It seems cool, and against some test dummies put out decent damage, especially with x5, but without enhancement talents you go oom too fast. AOEs eats mana too fast. Didnt test the heals but they're glyphed and specced to be heal the crap out of themselves, both passive with earthshield, stoneclaw, and active with chain.

Was thinking of this as the super turret spec, plant the totems in the room and wait and burn down melee in an aoe. Heal through the rest. But the turtle approach waists the initiative and the aoe wastes all your mana, even with 5 mana tide i don't see this working.

Anyway, tried and failed to do something new

I'm not sure you can build anything decent without the enhancement tree, took a few hours of tinkering to realize that, unless I'm missing something obvious.

3 elem and 2 resto give you the same options and more goodies. I was hoping a hybrid spec x5 would simplify the interface but it's a no go.

U wont kill anyone with totems in arenas these days. period. One druid WG out heals your best magma totems.

4 shadow priests with a healer would be about as much of a "drain team" that I think would be plausible. Shadow priests, from what I gather, are just far too squishy.
