    Default Ele shammy's DPS

heya guys looking for advice on improving my dps on the shammies, having messed around with my click macro's i get on the dummies just under 5k dps, however on raids i struggle to do 4k.

rotation is Flame shock, Lava Burst, Chain lightning and Lightning bolts x 2

all 3 shammies are around the 4.5 - 5k GS range (4th shammie is resto)

    Many thanks

Are you hit capped? Raid bosses are (assumed to be) lvl 83 where Dungeon bosses are lvl 82.

    You need 17% hit.
You get 3% as a shaman from elemental precision (talent) so 14% to go:

a/ If there is a boomkin in the party that casts improved faerie fire or a dps priest that uses misery you get another 3% hit from them. -> means you need 11% hit from items which equals 289 hit
    b) if none of those are present you need 14% hit or 368.

    That is without racials.

Being not hit capped is a major dps decrease for me.

On a sidenote: the dummy vs raid is totally different for me. Due to raid buffs i can do way more in most raids than i can do on dummy. Of course you have to look at the specifics of the encounter ... if you cast a flame shock on rotface right before you start to run, this will increase your damage done but will decrease your dps. My point: you have to put things into perspective.

I just took a look at your ele's. Silverlion, silvercow & silverbacked.

    I'd recommend to
    - change glyphs: totem of wratch, lightning bolt and either flame shock / lava
    - update a few gems/enchants
    - on silvercow you should use the tailoring cloack enchant rather than the haste enchant (lightweave embroidery)

Depending on your rotation i'd say that 4-5k dps is acceptable with your gear.
