This. The water totem quest is particularly aggravating. What's worse about the whole thing is that whoever designed the totem quests apparently ran out of either time or energy, so that the last totem quest for horde (for orcs, anyway) consists of "visit this NPC and she'll just hand you the totem." I'm not complaining that the last totem quest isn't longer. But after they make you run around for the sake of a 'good' quest line or lore or whatever the fuck, they just give up when you get to the last one. Oh, fuck it, just take the damned totem.

Thanks Blizzard, for ruining that whole idea. For Cataclysm, please change the shaman totem quests to "hi, here's a totem and 100 exp, have a good one!" And I'll try to forget what a mess you made of the quests in vanilla.
