Default A guide to ISBoxer for WoW Keyclone refugees

Okay so with ISBoxer 36 I've been making it a point to make it easier to convert from other software, including Keyclone and "some other for-pay multiboxing software that I'll not mention here". It's never been easier to switch than it is today.

This guide covers topics needed for switching to ISBoxer from Keyclone, including:

    • Keyclone feature equivalents in ISBoxer
    • Getting started
    • Getting the same baseline performance you had with Keyclone
    • Importing a Do Not Pass whitelist and Round Robin keys
    • Alternative method to quickly add many hotkeys, optionally with auto-assist
    • Replicating your Keyclone Hotstrings
    • Using multiple WoW folders

I'm currently hosting the guide in PDF format: http://lavishsoft.com/downloads/mods...20refugees.pdf

So, for anyone thinking of making the switch (feel free to apply for a free 7 day trial) or currently in the process, this guide is for you.

Feedback is welcome and encouraged. If you've already switched and want to take a peek at the guide, I'd love to hear your comments as well. Thanks

Lax as fantastic as your software is (and I rate it as highly as Reason for awesomeness), this was my only negative point - I understand why and am living with it with no problems, but if IS = Keyclone on a performance level I would be a very happy FTL toon.

Will this mean a sacrifice from the mouse broadcasting perspective?

edit: Need to learn to read hehe. I will be trying this later this evening and can't wait!

Yes, if you want the same baseline performance you're going to give up Instant Swap, and that's going to break the perfect mouse broadcasting. You can't have it both ways, sorry!

    From the pdf:
One of the things the Quick Setup Wizard sets up is Instant Swap. What this feature does is sync the actual resolution of all of the game windows, such that even when shrunk, the windows are still rendering at the full resolution. This will somewhat reduce your framerate (FPS), but is required to enable Instant Swap and provide perfect mouse broadcasting. If you don't need Instant Swap or perfect mouse broadcasting, the same level of performance you had with Keyclone can be achieved by simply disabling this option in your Window Layout.

    Looks good.

Obviously, have not tried the import whitelist or hotstrings features, but those should make switching a lot easier, once someone decides to give IS Boxer a try.

For me, when I switched, going from every key is always broadcast (KC) unless I blacklist it.. to Repeater = Keyboard (and mouse) broadcasting like Keyclone, but also having Keymaps for hotkeys... was a bit of a transition. With KC, everything is a warcraft macro. With ISBoxer mapped keys, you can go hotkeys which do warcraft macros or which do the macro from within IS Boxer, plus a hotkey can do an IS Boxer function too.

Mapped Keys and Keymaps are so much stronger, that is definitely the way to end up, even if you go with a white or black list imported, for the initial set up.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Shame - it's quite a lot to give up if you consider repeater regions -> mouseover healing and AOE heaven. Time to buy a new comp soon but I'll wait for the cata launch before I do.

I currently use multiple Symlinked folders to maintain my configuration settings for each account / character. (I use keyclone)

    • Is there a method of importing the current information saved across multiple folders into the one virtualized config of ISBoxer?

    • You addressed the "Config.WTF" file specifically, will ISBoxer also work with other saved variable files (bindings-cache, macro-cache, etc) and add-on's saved settings? If so, are they global to all accounts or local to each account / character.

Thanks for the information you have put together.

To maintain your current configuration, you would copy the WoW\WTF\Account folder contents from the additional folders into the final WoW\WTF\Account folder. ISBoxer will generate the virtual Config.WTF files after you run the Quick Setup Wizard and Export, so if you want to keep the Config.WTF settings you can replace each file after that, by copying in one of the other Config.WTF files as each one.

ISBoxer does not generate virtualization of any file other than Config.WTF, but it is possible to add more virtual files. Typically it's not needed, but with multiple computers you might be used to keeping separate Addon folders and settings, etc. What a few people I've talked to like to do is just have a folder for when they're not multiboxing, and another for when they are, and they use different UIs between the two.

hmmm I have keyclone but want to try ISboxer to see if it is worth the change, where is the 7 day trial? i registered on your site... and skimmed through it but all forum entries are like 2005ish. I see if i am not satisfied after 24 days i can get a refund? is that what i should use as the trial or am i just blind.
** o found it... odd ... I assume if i want to buy it the free trial will upgrade and save all my configs right?
