    Default Beginners Octopus question

    Hello,

    I´m a new at dual-boxing and I decided to run a pally/hunter setup...
Software I´m using is Octopus, i read the step by step tutorial for Octopus, but something semms to be wrong.

My Leader is the pally and should be supportet by the hunter.

I run Octopus 1.3.8 the program starts my two accounts and everything semms to be ok, but when i start to fight whith my pally my hunter is on follow and doesent get any instructions despite being set in the keys section.
If I understood the tutorial well, i have to set the keys, which are always used by the leader, on blacklist.
    Is this right?

There may be some legacy users, but I haven't heard this software being discussed in a long time. I'm guessing it's because there are much better alternatives (ISBoxer) and fewer hardware boxers (I thought that's what Octopus was typically used for... sorry if I'm wrong).

    Best of luck

    Octopus is fine. Legacy....rofl!

Anyway, for most folks you want your Server tab --> Keys sub-tab to be empty (no keys in there) and the "Whitelist" box unchecked. That will allow all keys to pass to slaves.

[edit] Also, you might make sure you have your "Key broadcast" and "Bypass mode" toggles set up and sounds assigned to those so you can easily tell (both visually with the OSD and audibly with sounds) when you turn things on and off.

I was planning on giving Octopus a try as my first experience with dualboxing, however when I try running the program, it takes up 99% of my system resources and for all intents and purposes locks my computer down till I terminate the program. Any idea as to what could be causing this?

To specify, the program runs fine until I try to start the server.

Did you install the correct .NET 3.5 runtimes from the wiki guide?

lol, I am back, and that Octopus signature is funny.

how do ppl get this ?? I never said anyone could distribute it besides Ghallo (at least since it was open source and those versions are pretty dated) ... not that I care.

I still consider about doing another version just a ton of work.

I don't believe you can run 5 copies on one PC properly ( at decent fps / res ). When I tried 4 with a quad it was terrible but 2 would run very well even with a medium level graphics card. Maybe if you had SLI/crossfire and one of those new 6 cores. Guess if I get back into it I would find out.

edit: Well seems you can run 5 copies very well actually (i7, 5870)

Actually - the performance has more to do with setting up junctions than with Octopus - I was able to 5 box just fine once I set my junctions up correctly (or symlink or whatever you want to call it).

As for distrobution - users have kept the 1.3.8 version hosted on various sites. I don't have my latest posted because there hasn't been much interest.
