I can only imagine what it is going to be like on the servers that aren't being taken down. There will be a wave of alts and level 1s swarming all over the place. I might stay away even though our server (Stormrage) is only having normal maintenance tomorrow.

Hmm, they said "as they prepare for the upcoming expansion" its probably just major hardware upgrades, but maybe its more.... Im sure they wont release cata until blizzcon, im sure blizzcon will be the date they announce the cata release date, and what all is gonna be in the collectors edition.

But yeah, 24 hr downtime... ouch. Id almost rather it be 48 hours total, but spread out over a couple weeks or something

Cata will release around 20 something ish of November, just like Wrath. The 4.0 chaos patch will hit 10/26/2010, or the Tuesday after BlizzCon, just like Wrath. The world events will start sometime after like Wrath. I think they might announce dates before BlizzCon, since retailers need to be able to get things sorted with supply chain and midnight sales. Once you tell retailers, you are telling the world.

Granted, I could be wrong, but I've been giving these dates since Cata was announced at last BlizzCon while everyone else was expecting it by February or even last year if they were crazy. As for Ruby Sanctum, not sure, but I'm guessing before July 4th.
