Default Key Maps off while using chat

    Hey guys,

I've been messing around recently trying to see if there's an easy way to turn off the key map repeats while using the WoW chat window, as it was beginning to get annoying while I was typing when I'd press a button that was also a hot key.

The basic work around I've been trying at the moment is that whenever I press 'r' or '/' it switches off the key maps and if you press 'enter' it toggles it on/off.

The biggest problem I have is if I click on a name in the chat window or guild/friends window to do a whisper instead of typing it using /w.

Is there an easier way to do what I need?

In other news my first 5 box party is coming along nicely, just reached level 35, have mainly been doing instances and enjoying the RAF triple exp.

    Thanks in advance.

I have Keymaps on my M3 key (G15 keyboard) and Keyboard Repeater on M1 and Mouse Repeater on M2.

Each is a two step mapped key.
Step 1 turns the light on, and enables the Keymap.
Step 2 turns the light off, and disables the Keymap.

When I want to chat, I press M1 and M3, until the lights are off.
    And chat away normally.
    Takes all of 2-3 seconds.

Usually you just hit Shift+Alt+M or click the left icon (that has A,Z) to turn the arrow grey. Unless you added more Key Maps, in which case you'd need to add them to the Activate Maps mapped key in the Control key map.

And then if you have different Key Maps for different teams, you want to black or white list them to prevent the wrong maps from being loaded on the wrong team. To do so, you would go into your Character Set in the top pane, then click on Key Maps in the bottom left pane. This will bring up the Character Set-specific white/black list editor for Key Maps.

Cheers guys, I'm just terrible at remembering to actually turn them off when chatting. Why I was trying to see if there was an easier way that meant I didn't have to physically remember.

I guess I'll just have to start training myself to turn them off before I start typing, though in the end it's not really a big deal, it's was more a minor annoyance than a serious problem.

    When I started using Keyclone...
I forgot to disable broadcast, via the Pause Key, initially.
And had five toons spam guild chat and such.
    You learn it pretty quickly.

Same deal, moving to IS Boxer.
Had to train myself to disable Keymaps.
I play with Repeater off typically, unless I enable it for something specific.
Doesn't take too long before it becomes second nature.

Same deal as when I took auto follow on a switch off from several teams.
Mapped a mouse button to FTL Follow Me.
And only left toons stranded a few times, before learning to hit that button a lot.

Aye it's been a pretty steep learning curve, but so far I'm having a blast with 5 boxing. I've got till the end of the month before the free 30 days runs out and I have to decide how many if any I'm going to keep.

The list of things I've forgotten to do at least once is growing, forgot to invite everyone once didn't notice until one character levelled up without the rest, thankfully that was early on. Messed up the Quest in Razorfen Downs last night as the quest guy ran off at break neck speed, wasn't until later I realised I left my druid behind. Then there was me playing my Pally solo to do some trade skills, when I logged the full team in later was confused as one character was miles away from the rest.

So I was happily replying to a guildie in chat, typing away on the main's window, and my four slaves died. WTF??? Turns out I typed a word with the letter "c", which is my hotkey for flying mounts. All four of my slaves promptly jumped off their flying mounts, in midair, and fell to their deaths. Not my brightest moment, but now I'm really, really good about turning off key broadcasting before typing chat LOL

I've done that, more then a few times.
The druid team at least can recover; the Spacegirls aren't quite as lucky.

I ended up buying a G13 pad to keep all my broadcast keys obscure and not have to worry about triggering things when chatting. It's an expensive but easy fix, and well worth it just for the extra functionality the G13 brings. Being able to use the analog thumbstick on it to move my toons has been invaluable so far.

    I've got the original style G15, with 18 G-Keys, and M1, M2, M3, MR.
I love having all the extra buttons for mapped keys.
And the M1-M3 & MR key, are great for toggle effects; have the light on when the toggle is on.
