Default Handling different targets (ie: 2 tanks)

heya, I have a new 10 box group, and I am struggling with the ISboxer FTL limitations on handling a double-tank scenario where both tanks need to target different things. I have a main tank and an off tank, and sometimes I need the main tank on the boss while my off tank grabs all the adds and stuff, with my DPS assisting my current window as always (since I jump between main and OT a lot)

I am just using the default FTL DPS keys, and I use 2-5 a LOT, and mix them up quite a lot depending on healing requirements.

I need the ability for my tanks to NOT assist the current window when asked, and I can't find any "except" kind of script in ISboxer that will exclude certain windows, characters or classes from the FTL thing.. what am I missing?

to do this you'll have to set up macros and keymaps that are focus based i.e. not FTL

i had a similar problem in this post http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=23579

making dps toons focus one target to pew pew even though the tank was swapping targets to grab aggro.

theres plenty of macro info on the site

    No you dont...

What you're missing is that you're asking how to modify the "FTL Assist Me" mapping under Control, which sends assist to "all other". If you want to change who it goes to, you can use Action Target Groups. You can dynamically control who assists you by adding or removing them from the ATG.

Make an Action Target Group called "assisters" for example. Add every single Character to it -- you can do this quickly by selecting the ATG in the top pane, then right click on "Characters" in the bottom left and there's an option to add all. Then change the action in FTL Assist Me to send to Group (others in) assisters, aka "other assisters". Then make a toggle or something with a Target Group Action that can remove your tanks. Put them in another ATG called tanks or something, and your Target Group Actions can tell all tanks to join/leave the assisters group.

But definitely don't switch to focus just for this

I tried the action group thing, and my secondary tank still assisted for some reason.. I thought it was odd but I havent been home since to restart everything and re-test. I reloaded my UI and everything, I just didnt shut down WoW and retry.

Definitely not going to switch to focus for that, I need my focus frames for other things. I will endeavor again to try and fix this problem, thanks Lax.

If you try it and it still doesn't work, show me your config (come by the ISBoxer chat room or something) and I can help you fix it

yeah, I forgot to remove the main WoW DPS keys from my character sets, I removed it and haven't had a chance to try it again. I was sure that I removed it from the FTL DPS Keys frame, but it either didn't save properly or I screwed something up.

Action Target Groups are the way to go. You can get fancy and have like Dps1 and DPS2 and have when you press like #2 for example it sends FTL to Tank1s target to DPS1 and FTL to Tank2s target to DPS2. This way you can split your dps if needed. Then have a all join DPS1 or whatever else you want to go back to the standard FTL setup.

Combine ClickBars with ActionTargetGroup toggles and you can make some very dynamic configurations. You could have seperate keymaps combined with action target groups for a specific boss encounter that work with a toggle. This was brought up in Mercucio's Deathwhisper thread.

action target groups are amazing - they allow me to basically lead with a healer/dps and send the cat and tank to the mobs all while only pressing 1. I can't recommend them highly enough - i however did have to set up a separate IwT keymap for melee.
