Default Not yet multi but considering how many characters

I've read through the forums and tried to sort through outdated wikis etc

My main character is pretty well geared and I enjoy him. Working on as many achievements etc and he will be my main focus in any endeavor; however, due to the mechanics of some old fights and that annoying ?? Boss classification I am unable to do certain old world tasks such as Raptor mount in ZG. I've found myself dependant on others for simple tasks and it is frustrating. However since my primary is a dps i'm not sure if dual boxing is sufficient since I'd only pick up either a tank or healer.

[edit]The monkey wrench in this scenario is that my main is a Rogue. Therefore I have a melee class in the arsenal that isn't a tank. So how does this change some of the original suggestions? (I forgot to put it in my original post!) [/edit]

So my question is this: what is the recommended number of characters to box?

I'm being drawn more to the dark side of 5 after having been crushed by 5x lightning bolts in pvp of course But I'm not sure if that is a logical decision. Running heroics without 15min queues sounds nice too... then again practically maybe 2-3.... I've read somewhere that 4 is pointless, either cut at 3 or go all out for 5. Or would a simple dual configuration work?

    So Advice?

I would recommend the FIVE. I started end of last year and still leveling my first team, and right now, I cannot ever see myself one boxing again. Five felguards plus 15 dots on a mob or another player (five fears on round robin, that poor player or mob) is just too evil and so fun.

Plus, you can do all five man instances yourself. No more qq and other hassles.
Tank, 3 dps plus heal...Holy trinity + two. 'Nuff said.

It all boils down to what you want to do. Five would be the best as you open up lots of opportunities. With 2 or 3 boxing, you still need two or three others to fill the 5-party for instances, unless you overgeared and outlevel the instance. As you said, five lightning bolts are awesome!

If you like to pve and pvp, x1 pally, x4 shamans is imo the way to go. I play a 5 class team and I love it.

If you start lower than 5, the temptation to get more will be there =P

    Play whatever works for you.
I like five, in that you're a full group for PvE content, which can be a consideration to upgrade PvP gear via badges.
Generally, a toon that can tank, and a toon who can heal (even if they're dual-spec to do so) or several dps who can both dps and heal.

    If you're interested in PvP...
The DK + 4x Ret, is a strong team for both aspects of play.
A Feral Bear is good for PvE and can be either caster/melee DPS or Heals for PvP.
Shammies are a good choice, for the totem synergy.
But a lot of combos work too.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

    Smile 2box- easy to use

I have alot of fun with my 2box spriests. They are kinda squishy in pvp and the dps cant compete with mages or locks but they are fun. The main reason I like 2boxing is the simplicity. I would like to level a class that is easier to master.
Anyone reading this post answer this question? I was thinking about leveling a dualbox shaman team but ive heard elemental isnt that great dps and enhancement is mostly melee. Is resto the reason people dual box shaman so much, What is the main advantage other than just utility. Ease of use?

Edit: Wait time for me x2 dps is about 15 min for an instance

Ease of use. Ele shamans are actually great dps, and they have much more group utility than enhance shamans. Things like tremor, cleansing, ect. are priceless in pvp, and in pve as well

2box - tank and heal/dps because 3 other dps are easy to find.
3box - tank and 2 heal/dps , just have them throw some fast heals in the middle of dps.
    4box - might as well go 5box.

I run a 5 box team and usually do use them for the old world stuff. My main is a Paladin/Tankadin and ironically I just solo the ZG bosses because of the mind control, lol. Just easier... Got my Raptor finally after 6 months, still need my tiger!

Shoot if you wanted to go on the real cheap all you need is an 80 Paladin to do all the old world mounts and the only achievements you couldn't solo are AQ40+BWL. You can't multibox BWL or AQ40 so it doesn't even matter in the long run.

Otherwise running 5 toons is a blast and opens up worlds of possibilities.
