    Default Abuse

Does anyone find they get abused a lot for cheating / hacking (multi boxxing) ?

I play bg's and wg a fair bit and every second wg the opposite faction make an alt to abuse me or even my faction does. I hold my own and do pretty well so its not like im dragging anyone done.. In fact i win most bgs.. its just people like to be heard or they have little angry boy syndrome?

how do you all deal with it?

its an age old adage i believe.

boxers are like marmite, some people love em, some people hate em and no matter what logical argument you offer you'll be met with resistance to a proper way of thinking. Believe me when i say i have tried to reason with some.

All i would say is try to be polite in so far as it pertains to what you can stand for, but dont be walked upon socially in the game. you're a real person too not just a bunch of pixels bound for some nerdrage.

If i'm /s qq'd or emoted spit i simply /e couldn't give a toss what you think. baibai /ignore. And if you get on my list at all, you really have to have been a complete worthless dick.

The battle groups and servers are populated enough for at least a few hundred people not to like you and it have no effect on your play. in my experience so far its only been around a dozen real haters in six months of boxing. i just see them as jealous they dont have any nice gear / mounts / rating / cash to pay for 5 accounts, so i move along pretty quickly to the next thing. which is pounding more horde into the ground normally :0

Always remember what the ignore list is for, and dont be afraid to use it. if some tosspot who doesn't even know you from adam wants to throw hate at you and doesnt even have the balls to do it from their main , it says more about their character than anything, not yours. Be nice - "ish". everyone will see what a dick they are in the end.

Keep pew pew'ing and forget the qq'ing

    All the best mate.

When the abuse breaks the TOS, report them. If they export you "gimme 1000 gold or I report you" report them, friend them with a slave, and call billing services saying your child was threatened on line for $1000. You will find that the slave will be missing a friend soon.

While your questing and they see you have 4 identical shaman or whatever, and they say "wtf??" and then move on. That's pretty normal and is often cured by targeting them and /cheer or /lol. But remember people are reporting you for cheating all the time, especially at low level and especially if you have serious gold.

Turn their joys in your joys. Don't argue, just agree that you don't have a life and live in your mother's basement. Problem solved.

or just ignore them. Last whisper i had was a couple of months ago i think, now most whispers are get are positive. Most from players playing horde obviously.

I had an email from some guy pretending to be Blizzard , telling me I would be banned if I continued to use automation in game.

I cant tell you what i wrote back.

It's an old problem to be sure.

That said, I don't think it's as bad as it used to be - multiboxing being more widely known (and more widely accepted too I think). Ultimately though, you need to not let 'em get to you - because there'll always be some dickhead out there who either doesn't know what we're doing, does but thinks it's against the EULA, or just flat out thinks his/her opinion matters more than Blizzards.

I used to have a macro reply that read "I wonder how up yourself you must be to believe that a complete stranger would give a rats ass what your opinion is." - but now I just don't even bother with that.

I ran my Ret team through AV a couple weeks ago and was outside the main boss's spot for the Horde (forgot the name). Anyway, this Warrior prick wanted to keep bashing me, then he wanted to grip cause I wouldn't heal him. Wish I woulda thought about it then, I woulda just gave him one tap of 4xLesser Heal Rank 1s. Then told him "RET SPEC PRIK", but I was nice-ish, and just targeted him and hit my LHx3(current rank) from slaves and said 'There Ass', then kept on killin horde at the gates. There was a Hunter there that stood up for me, which was cool. Can't remember what was said, but it something about giving him all 4 blessings he made a snide remark about. Fact is, no matter what, you'll come across these people whether it's your own faction or the opposite. Hell, I just found out my own sister-in-law is no fan of multiboxers, but she's not as bad as all these others. She's always givin me shit about cheating in games in general anyway, so I let it go in one in and out the other.

I can tell you that the situation has changed from when I first started boxing. Used to be that you couldn't walk through Org without someone calling you a "Hacker," "Cheater," "Gold Farmer," or "Botter." I used to start off each day by reporting myself. I would report myself to avoid GM controversy. I don't bother now. People like Xzin, Ellay, Vyndree, Bradster, Fursphere, and Ugh have paved the way for all of us in that respect. There are many, many others, but those people stand out to me. ::apologies to those I didn't mention::

After a somewhat lengthy lay-off from WoW, and even longer from multiboxing, I came back to a feeling of acceptance. More people have stopped to say "Cool" or "I've always wanted to multi-box.... How...?" Today I walk through Org during the busiest of times with my team and not once have I heard anything negative. That might change, but I can tell you that it's much different than it used to be. More people know about multi-boxing now, and understand that it's an accepted by Blizzard play style. Just yesterday, I got rez'd by a pally I din't even know. He/she said to me, "I have a friend that dual-boxes and I know what a pain it is when you die." That is a credit to this site, and the efforts of many to keep multi-boxing legit.

So, I wouldn't worry, and I wouldn't waste my time with people that act with ignorance.

Well I take offense when you call it cheating/hacking because multiboxing isn't hacking OR cheating in any way shape or form. Maybe you phrased your sentence wrong and meant to say accused of cheating/hacking?

Either way they are just jealous and there isn't anything they can do about it except harass you. If someone is harassing you then call a GM. Especially someone posing as a Blizzard employee they'd probably get a ban.

How I defuse the arguement on my server is I post on our server forums talking about my multiboxing. First posted a message asking if any other multiboxers were around. Then that led to many healthy discussions on how multiboxing works and I have even got a few others dual boxing themself.
