Red face No gather leveling guide?

I have used Jamie leveling guide and quest helper from 1 to 80 many times and have instance boosted many of my quad teams with RAF. Now I have 1 team at 80 and 9 around 61. I don't mind questing as a 5 team but gather quests really kill me any chance someone put together a NO gather leveling guide from 60 to 80 there has to be enough zones out there to do it. I don't care about getting the zone achevement just getting to 80 asap. Any ideas?

If you don't want any collections at all, you could probably do Classic Warcraft + Burning Crusades. With each new expansion, they quickly reduce the amount of experience required (usually by 30%) per level of the older content.

Basically, you only need 70% of the experience now, that players needed when BC was current content. If you have a main team with heirloom items, this can add a further 20% additional experience to your later teams, making Classic + Burning Crusade content that much faster to blast through.

If you are questing, and decide to entirely skip collections, you'll occasionally miss out on the follow up quest, which might be a kill quest. There were a lot of collections in BC, but most of them did not lead to anything special, and skipping them did not adversely affect your team much.

Not so in Northrend (WotLK)... There are a ton of collections, which lead to kill quests, which lead to more collections etc. If you're not willing to do collections, then questing is not a good option for you to level with.

Aside from questing, you can run instances. If your team includes a tank (in particular) or a healer (to a lesser degree), the random dungeon finder will rock for leveling. It might be rough in places, example - kill trash but not able to down a boss, so do the trash and then reset the dungeon and repeat... But this is one non-collection option to use.

The other choice is PvP. Depending on your battlegroup, there might or might not be a ton of lower (non-maximum) level BG's at a given time. In general AV is the fastest BG to queue for and is the best experience from running it. Even if BG queue's suck on your server, you can queue for these all the time and run them as supplemental experience whenever possible.

Also there will be some dailies (usually collections & kills open these) which you can run once a day, for extra experience to help out with not doing collections.

I found that doing every non collection quest in outland got me from 58 to 66 and a half by the end of Nagrand. I do believe I did the very first collection quest (gathering scraps of wood and metal) in Hellfire due to no other decent rewards for that armor being available until level 64-65.

Overall I would say that switching between doing AV/Instances/Questing so to not get burned out on any of them would be the fastest way.

I tried to avoid the collection quests in BC. Did a few instances, but got stuck at lvl 67 with "no" kill quests left. Mind you, this was without Heirlooms on.

You can get pretty far avoiding collection quests but as you stated yourself, some loot from the collection quests are almost to good to skip

    Random Dungeons helps now.

I've just finished Azeroth on my latest team (5xPaladin, hit level 58 with 10 minutes to spare before maintenance). I'd simply quest as usual and if I ran out of kill quests, hop into random dungeons until I was happy to go to the next zone.

Northrend being the "lets-make-everything-an-anti-group-boring-collection-fest" that it is, I expect to be doing a lot of dungeons going from 68 to 80.

Unfortunately in Northrend, you are pretty much obligated to do some gather quests, or you'll miss some epic quest lines. I couldn't figure out why my "Wrathgate" line wouldn't open up on my Draenei team until I went to Wowhead, and found a couple gather/vehicle quests that originally I didn't want to do. It was the same with opening all of the airship dailies, there's a few gather quests there as well.

Ayup - sux eh. Northrend is by far my least favourite leveling experience, and it's so ironically anti-group (I mean, shouldn't an MMO be, oh, I don't know, encouraging group questing???).

I pretty much expect to do all Icecrown quests, at least the opening Storm Peak ones and the rest will be up for grabs - hopefully that'll get me through without too much trouble.

My previous teams did all quests down to getting Loremaster of Northrend, and it was excruciating.

I say this is every thread like this.

Collection quests are part of the game, if I were you I would attempt to change your attitude about them rather than changing your tactics.

Just treat them as focused grinding, try to get in a groove, youll be alright.

Or not, and youll find leveling a bit more miserable.

Definitely! They're easy, especially if you have it set up to let all your slaves loot without switching windows (and you should have that) - 5x as long as doing it solo, but you get 5x as much xp, loot and gold.

If you can, listen to some music, have a movie on or something - it's a great way to play and easy to do.

I would add a martini or two to help make things less boring
