I'm going to share with everyone the ultimate "no collection quest" leveling guide. It's a VERY guarded secret, so please. don't share this with anyone else.

Step 1: Find a mob you can kill easily, kill it, loot it.
    Step 2: Repeat Step 1.

You'll be 80 in no time.

If you can, listen to some music, have a movie on or something - it's a great way to play and easy to do.

Yes I have Interact with target set up and its great I leveled 5 skinning 1-450 in a day So looting is easy and your right easy kills. The cog gathers are a pain and when the drop rate is low or the cogs or drop rate is few and far between I feel ilke killing myself. (there is some lame egg quest in GunDrak that was the worst and troll patrol UGH)

Yes TV on Lost, American Idol or whatever going on. I just though that someone might have documanted a no gather leveling guide since there are so many lvling guides out there.

    Thanks for all the sugestions

If my TV was on American idol I'd want to kill myself as well.

    Serious Advice:

Don't try to level to 80 in 1 day, I know, it's unpossible!, but you have to stop thinking that way. Don't worry about getting to 80. Set very small easily obtainable goals for yourself. When I'm leveling, I focus on getting the zone achievement for northrend / outland. This lets me set rather small milestones to work towards, when you think of all the collection quests to 80, it's very daunting and /wrist worthy. When you take it a zone at a time, it's much easier to think about / get into a grinding groove.

Collection quests are part of the game, if I were you I would attempt to change your attitude about them rather than changing your tactics.

Just treat them as focused grinding, try to get in a groove, youll be alright.

Or not, and youll find leveling a bit more miserable.

agree, used to be in the "no collection quests boat" now I don't mind them and allows me to complete all quests for that area expecially nice if accounts aren't raf linked

    General tips,
If drops and gather items act as a reagent, only one toon has to collect it. that is if the quest log dont list the items, or the items are used to summon a NPC or open a portal, not every toon has to collect it. Examples, Its Abominable, one toon can collect the part and the party gets the kill credit. Example, the Argent tournament dailys where you have to collect flowers to summon a NPC for a weapon.

Party wide drops. There are alot drops that the whole party can can loot. the Argent Daily to pick up the ember for the frozen lake, is a party wide drop.

100% drop rate. There are some world drop quest that is 100%, I don't remember which one. There is one or 2 in Ice Crown. Mostly they are in dungeons and starting areas.

Base on the above I realize long ago that there aren't that many hardcore drop and gathering quest. I think Blizzard increase drop rates since WoW first came out.

Level 70 - 75 during a weekend using random or call to arms battlegrounds. Best ones are AV and IoC
At lvl 75 you will steamroll everything in pvp regardless of your team composition and will be able to level much more efficiently via pvp without the need of call to arms BG during weekends. In fact, lvl 76 - 80 is much faster via PvP than PvE. You can level from 76 to 80 in a single day during a weekend with AV or IoC call to arms.

Then do the kill quests at lvl 80 for the extra gold and to make your toons at least take the flight paths and get friendly rep with each faction.

You need no quests to enter the instances and only need friendly rep to get the given faction tabard and start gathering reputation. If you have already one team with maximum reputation there is not even need to gather faction rep wit your other teams because the faction vendor best enchants are BoA.

My warlocks still have to do all the icecrown and storm peaks quests. I will do only the kill ones and the ones that unlock the shadow vault place. Not even interested in unlocking the dailies, in 3 months the content will be history anyways.

There is nothing you can get from questing that is better than the stuff offered by the PvP or emblems vendors, so don't even bother with the collect quests unless this is the first team you level.
If this is your first team, then gain friendly with every faction to be able to buy the tabards and do the collect quests ONLY with your main just to see the content.
Then head into instances and as you farm them you will gain faction rep and be able to buy the faction enchants, the other faction vendor stuff is useless and by the time you grind the rep you will have full T9 set that will vastly outgear the faction vendor crap.

There are only a couple collection quests that open content... at least on the alliance side
1 ) The gather quest in the mine in the naxxramas area. It opens fordragon hold chain. I recommend you to do that quest on your main if that is your first team... otherwise just skip it.
2 ) Sons of hoodir chain opening quests where you need to do a collect quest or two to gain some rep with that faction. You should do these quests because they open the sons of Hoodir place, otherwise they will stay hostile to you.
3 ) A couple of the safari quests if you want the achievement. If you are not an achievement whore you can skip these. I do only the booze preparation quest because you have to run around killing lots of stuff and you just run into the things you need to gather... and it gives you a free mana drinks that get your team drunk to boot.

Other than that, you can completely skip almost all the other gathering quests.
