Default Why do you play on a PvP server?

So a simple question, what is your motivating factor that makes it fun or motivates you to play on a PvP server?
Have just started leveling a team for the first time on a PvP server (KJ ) and the ganking is a little annoying creating a lot of extra downtime and annoyance.
Maybe I am just not a conflict person, I even helped a lowbie horde toon who was getting attacked by npcs.
What is your motivation? Is it just a gank fest?

it isnt always a gank fest..
unless the opp faction on your server is truely BORED. which I have seen plenty.
on my server, there is a good amount of ganking but you just gotta steer clear with how easy leveling is now there is always a different zone to head to.
and esp. as a boxer steer clear of opp faction on a PVP server.. if they see you they see 5xthe fun.

+side when you are 80 you can kill punk beaches.
+dont let opp faction get loot.
    +wipe world raids/killing/farming
+i like world pvp more than BGs

and the negatives .. well heh the same as above could happen to you or of course ganking.

my last team to 80. I only got ganked 1 time.. level 73ish.
and one other time when 76 2 80s tried to and I killed them..rofl

It's fun when it's a relatively even fight. It's lame when there's a level 80 that comes and destroys your low level toons for the hell of it. When that happens I log to other toons for a bit (particularly if they start camping me).

There's lots of fun to be had in harassing the other side, though. See someone doing an escort quest that you were wanting to start? Kill em. If they're within 5 levels of you, it should be a pretty easy fight. Hell, I killed my first DK (level 58+) in my 30s on KJ, finishing up my achievement for killing one of every class

Well so far it has been just getting ganked at SM, everytime I have been there, there has been horde boosting toons and their booster ganks my team. Even my lvl 80 druid got ganked by a BE Ret Pally who appeared out of nowhere, stunned me in regular form and I was dead before I could do anything, VERY annoying.

I joined KJ for social reasons. Also the LoB guild has very cool people in it. At first I was a target by Yesh (Daft, stronger, better... w/e), she ganked me 3 times in a week right after I moved to the server. I got used to it. In fact I just chalked it up to it just being another part of playing WoW. Now I equate Red=Dead and I look for opportunities to gank. I don't even care what level you are, if you are red then you are dead or about to be. There have been some evenings where I was so bored that I just traveled to contested areas to grief horde. Another reason I joined LoB was because they told me they camped horde cities. Well we have not done that yet, so I am looking forward to shutting down some horde cities for an evening.

To be honest, I do not find it fun killing the horde, kinda my feeling about it is that I would not be happy getting nuked and so I do not want to nuke another player, for me the fun is progressing through content, not hindering other people's progression.
I am thinking maybe I am not a pvp player. I started this team also to interact with other boxers, although guild chat in boom just seems VERY quite lol. I suppose better than having a 12 yr old taking bs the whole evening in guild chat lol.

my motivation is GIMP, i prefer pvp over pve though. Leveling is done by boosting mostly, so i hardly meet alliance.

I think a PvP server is just better and more the way the game should be, if oposing factions meet in contested
terratory then we should be able to try an kick the shite out of each other thats how it would be irl
ganking is unfortunatly part of the experiance but always go's both ways. i got ganked a few times while in
outland but nothing to bad as you can usually ask for help from guildys if your getting camped
In relation to "red=dead" i try to stay clear of ganking lowbies or even 80's so i dont give bad rep unless they attack me and to
prove a point i will then camp them for a few more kills lol.
But i am guilty of a little ganking out of boredom in the past people an npc's at Gadgetzan realy dont like me lol
After playing for nealry 3 years on a PvE server (wildhammer) i can for sure say PvP is much better for the good and the bad

It is just another part of WoW. It's kind of exciting. I used to be a kind-hearted individual and leave lower players alone, until I kept getting ganked after leaving red players alone to do their questing or whatever. My good will was pushed too far. Now it's open season.

My favorite moment has been when i killed a level 72 pally on my main while i was helping one of my 70's toons. I get a whisper yelling at me for killing him - once. I politely told him if he didn't want to get killed he shouldn't be on a pvp server. It was funny how worked up he got after I interrupted his questing. He wasted more time logging into ally main and insulting me, than if he had just rezed and continued.
