New build
Well, I am doing my every 2 year new computer build, and wanted to get some advice to make sure I'm getting the most out of it.
My goal isn't to have the best of the best system - I don't want to pay more money just to be on the bleeding edge! - but to get the most performance I can out of my budget of about $1500. I 5-box on one computer, and right now, my system is fine for everything except for loading into Dalaran - it slows to an absolute crawl, usually at least one instance of WoW just totally stops responding and the Earth opens up underneath my computer and swallows it.
So, here is the system I'm planning on building, and was wondering if anyone could suggest places where I can get a better performing part for the same or less money:
MoBo: No onboard video - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130246
CPU: i5 750 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115215
RAM: 8GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231275
Video: 5850 (my first ATI card in a LONG time) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814103085
SSD: 80GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820167016
This should be a huge boost for me - my current system is running a Core 2 2.66, 4GB, 260GTX off of a standard HDD. I'm able to have 5 instances of WoW running as long as the background windows are set to lowest settings and throttled to 10FPS when not the primary window. Main screen gets anywhere from 30-60FPS, except in Dalaran, where I never go when boxing, where I get negative a billion FPS and actually go back in time it's so slow. With the main screen I also it at medium-high video settings right now. This is at 1920x1200 on one screen, all 5 instances windowed, if that makes a difference.
I'll be running Windows 7 64-bit on it, and the OS and WoW install will live on the SSD - my thinking is this will really help with the load times and make things a bit more responsive. More ram should help greatly, a beefier video card can't hurt, etc.
Any thoughts? The one thing I keep going back and forth on is the video card - the number of people experiencing crazy driver issues with the 5xxxx series of cards is high. I'm thinking about buying this in May or June, so maybe better drivers will be out then, or a competitive card from nVidia - but meh, I can't decide.
Thanks in advance
