Do not use a DK as a tank. Their Tanking cool downs can be unreliable in chaos situations. They take spikey damage and are not multiboxing friendly in the tank role. Now in the Blood DPS configuration their spell rotation is insanely easy to do. Even a monkey can play a Blood DPS DK.

I can DK tank but it is not enjoyable. Its stressful and it feels like work.
Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it"

My vote for "best" PvE team is:
    - Prot Paladin, Warlock, 3x Elemental Shaman.

    For PvP, probably go with:
    - Frost/Blood DK, 4x Ret. Paladin.

    For both, maybe something like:
    - Dual Spec Druid (Feral Bear - PvE & Boomkin PvP), 4x Elem. Shaman.

There aren't right or wrong combos.
If you're having fun, that is what counts.

    At the moment, I'm playing:

    - 5x Feral Druid
    - 1x Prot Paladin, 1x Demo Warlock, 3x Elem. Shaman
    - 1x Disc Priest, 4x Affliction Warlock
    - 5x Priest
    - 5x Hunter
    - 5x Death Knight

The Ferals are getting most of my time, but the others all log in, too.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

    my "current" project is:

    1x Prot/ Ret Pally
    3x Destro Warlock
    1x Disc/ Shadow Priest

this group will be used for a combination of 5man PVE and PVP (hence the dual spec on Pally and Priest)

tbh.. you can play any combo you like, the forums are full off different group compositions, just play what you enjoy.

their is no right or wrong in what group to use

I choose a Prot Pally, Frost Mage, Ele Shaman, Balance Druid, and Holy (maybe Disc) Priest last week when I created my group. Why? To be different. Even though boxers are less than one percent of the population I'd still rather not do a cookie cutter group. Now the one thing that worries me is moving to a PVP server. I have always done PVE in the past solo so I am probably going to be camped quite a bit until I get used to it.

Prot Pally, Warlock, Mage, Elemental Shaman, Disc/Holy Priest

Grab groups in heroics with the pally, grab agro, and AoE the hell out of everything. Plus you would get mage buffs, priest buffs, shaman totems, etc, back up heals with the shaman, and an oh shit heal with Lay of Hands. Sounds like a pretty solid group.

Just thought i'd add in the combo I plan on running in the next month or so its a melee team which I know prob isn't best for my first 5box as I've only done 3box so far but here it is:
Protection Pally, Fury Warrior, Enhancement Shaman, Retribution Paladin and Discipline Priest.
I picked this team mainly from a buff composition which is pretty huge all up you get:
20% melee haste plus 3% haste to all
    687ap buff and a 10% ap multiplier and a 3% damage increase
kings buff improved healing and armor
    +178 agility and strength
nearly 5k in health from commanding shout and prayer of fortitude and 3% damage reduction
+5% crit chance buff plus a plus 3% crit chance debuff on enemy and a few more minor buffs/debuffs just wondering what everyone thought sorry to hijack thread...
    cheers

Now that i'm thinking about it, if you are a rather casual player ((i.e. you don't have full T9 within 2 days after dinging 80) it can be a good idea to have several armors in the group: plate, leather, mail, cloth, ... which will make each drop a valuable one.

I tank on my DK with basically three buttons. It really isn't difficult and there are not as many thing to keep track of as you think.
