    Default Improving Rogue DPS (Mutilate EJ Spec)

    So I'm using the Mutilate spec from EJ. http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t37183-p...updated_3_3_a/

    The one Glyph they recommend that I'm not using atm is Tricks of the Trade Glyph over the Rupture Glyph I'm using. I have my click macro timed out perfectly for glyphed Rupture length, but it wouldn't be an issue to recalibrate it. I'm currently in 2pc T9 (232) + some crafted epics and using www.wowhead.com/?item=Blood Weeper x2. Also using deadly / instant poisons. I'm only at 284 (Poison cap for humans with no other hit buffs/debuffs is 315) So I'm not hit capped, or expertise capped. I guess my main question is am I doing gear level appropriate damage? On the heroic target dummy I pull 2100-2400 DPS over a 5 minute run. My macro is really good with keeping up Rupture, HFB. SnD will fall off here and there, but it's uptime is pretty high 80-85%.

    Shiv seems to be able to generate combo points faster (less energy cost) than Sinister Strike, they seem to hit for around the same so I went with the lower energy cost. I think I'm going wrong in 2 places. I'm not using Tricks of the Trade and I'm not using envenom. I may replace SnD with Envenom and see if I can get a reliable 3-4pt envenom off. I've thought about going Combat to see if that helped, but that rotation seems a bit more situational than the static "keep these buffs up" thate Mutilate needs. Any thoughts or suggestions definitely welcome.

    First thing and biggest thing i noticed right off the bat is the lack of envenom / eviscerate. Considering the talent Cut to the Chase gives you a free 5 pt slice n dice on envenom/evisc you should only use slice and dice one per fight.

    Until you get envenoms in your rotation I doubt you'll see anywhere near appropriate DPS. I wouldn't doubt if you should be over 4k dps with your gear in say VoA or something easy.

    Also I don't think you should be using any abilities besides mutilate rupture and envenom. (and HfB, SnD of course) I don't know that i've ever used shiv in PvE or sinister strike in mutilate spec.

    I pulled shiv and SnD out, I need to work SnD back in, I'm currently doing about 1950 DPS without Tricks. It's a pita to test this without having an alt standing there to cast tricks on. It's using nothing but Mutilate to build CPs.

    You don't need SnD in there at all.
    With even a one point Eviscerate (or Envenom), it places a five point SnD on the target.

    You might want the first castsequence as something like this:
    1st) /castsequence reset=combat Mutilate, Eviscerate, Null



    I've not seen a decent rogue click macro...
    There have been a few castsequences on the boards.

    I'm sure quite a few will be interested in whatever you come up with.

    I'll give this a shot.

    I agree, I haven't been happy with any of the rogue macros, and I think thats why I keep banging my head against this. if I can get it worked out it'll be nice. ATM it's functional, I boxed a few heroics with just my druid tanking and rogue and 3 pugs. I did fine except the rogue was stuck around 1400-1900 dps over an entire run.

    It refreshes your current SnD up to 5 pt timer. You have to have SnD up to begin with.

    You should be starting with something like
    /castsequence reset=combat Garrote, HfB, SnD, Mutilate, Envenom, null
    the big downside of course being you have to be stealthed and behind the target for the garrote but it's worth it.

    Then after that do something like Mutilatex2, Rupture, Mutilatex2, Envenom. Until you get better gear your may have trouble keeping SnD up with that rotation. Drop some mutilates if you need to make sure SnD never drops.

    Something more like that maybe? Timing should start with garrote then HfB then SnD etc

    I don't know if they fixed it in a recent patch but you used to have to do Mutilate,Mutilate in a castsequence to have 1 mutilate cast. I have not played my rogue since Feb so I dunno if this has changed.

    To my knowledge I don't have this issue.

    I have heard about this issue. Since I don't play a Rogue I cannot comment on whether it was fixed or not.
