Default IWT with range attacks (ie lightning bolt)

After boxing for many months, not using isboxer to its full potential, I am just now reading master uullas guides.

Question: when dealing with perky melee who circle straif is it possible to link IWT with lightning bolt casts? So that when I hit LB it faces the target and fires?

From what I get what is creative use of keypresses in combination with IWT is the following. One keypress has two events. A keydown and an keyup event.

So what happens is that on the keydown event there is an interact with target they start to move. Since one action makes them complete the whole interact you have to interupt it for them to only face the target. You can stop this interaction by pressing a movement butten. So in the keyup event a movement key is send (mostly used is the backwards movement key on all). This makes them while you are in the keydown event moving towards the target. And then we released (keyup) makes them stop.

I don't believe you can stop an interact with target by starting the casting of a spell. So in order to make them face the target, stop moving and start a cast you need one press and three events. This is not possible.

You could spam two keys though. One with the face target IWT and stop moving. And one with the Lightning Ball.

I hope this is somewhat readable content

You can have mapped keys execute a step on Press, Release (Default), or Press and Release.

The IWT command, is "interact with target", as soon as warcraft receives this, your toon begins to interact with target... which means (if Click to Move is on), your toon will begin to move.
Even with Press and Release, the press triggers the IWT which begins the movement.

I'm not sure if this will work as intended or not.
As in, will an IWT interrupt spell casting when in melee range with the target.

I'm fairly sure the IWT will (when CTM is on) turn your toon towards the target.
And if you're already in melee range, will not initiate movement.
Turning alone, does not interrupt spell casting.
But I'm unsure if IWT will turn on melee combat (which is the default interaction, with a hostile) and interrupt casting, or if the casting will continue and melee initiate once the spell is done.
