I currently have a dual-core cpu and a geforce gtx260, working lovely with two accounts. If I now move on to five accounts, will all copies of WoW get improvements if I upgrade to a quad-core cpu? Will cpu load be evenly spread on all cores?

On Windows 7 64-bit, I use roughly 1GB for primary instance at 1080p and 600MB for each of 4 additional instances running at about 525x840. My total system usage is around 5.5GB.

task manager ftw, not necessary on dual core as wow defaults to 2 cores. you can also set it from command line or software if you want to pay wow and someone else for the ease of not knowing what the command lines are. nethotkeys use the <setaffinity all> in call to the executables.

your other question is that you should try to keep your ram usage to under 75 percent for optiomal windows performance. ie 8gbs, but 6 will work fine till your pagefile starts to come out and play on your hd platters. i have two pc's, one that a quad core 9300 ish and the other i7. i7 has 12gigs and the quad has 8gig. i notice much more performance issues on the quad than on the i7 starting from outlands and beyond. pray for my quad should it have to do an wintergrasp...

At the bottom of this page, http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...48761862&sid=1 it says patch 3.3.2 removed the cpu core limit. So does this mean I don't need to edit anything to make my newly bought i7-computer use all cores in WoW?

You can add "SET ProcessorMaskAffinity=255" to your config file for each account and that will tell the game to use any core it likes, which will boost performance quite a bit.
In a thread called something like "MASSIVE performance increase" I post a few things that helped me. I would link to it, but the site is taking *forever* to respond. It's in the general discussion board here, tho.
just an update, when I go into org on my 5 lock team my kids quad core system, slide show city. this is on a high pop server...
you shouldn't have a problem except in a major city like Dalaran when using a single PC. 4 real cores is better than 2 cores using HT. I moved up to an i7 CPU and I go ahead and enable all 8 cores ( HT ). I find that I can 10x box on a single PC this way using 1920x1200 resolution screen. this was much faster than my previous 4 core CPU and I think it's mostly memory management of the new CPU that does it.
if I go to Dalaran with 10x I can't move a single character at all but inside of Naxx I'm fine and can't hardly tell I'm using one PC.
