Default Multiboxing Pirates of the burning sea (Potbs)

    Hey everybody,

Some may still remember me 5 boxing WoW till I stopped a few months ago and sold all my hardware (except for 2 computers) and accounts and stopped playing mmos all together due to burnout and the fact that I kind of hit a wall running the same hero instance every night for batches.

    Anyways,
after staying clear of mmos for a while I recently started playing the preorder of Pirates of the burning sea and I like the game so far. It seems like there might be a lot of room for multiboxers because:

    * the economy is pretty complex and I always liked crafting. More accounts lead to having more slots for crafting facilities (which are limited to 10 per account (not player)). Setting up more complex production lines is a lot of fun (if you enjoy crafting and online economy) and trying to optimize production and maximize profit with 2 or more accounts is a nice challenge.

    * PvP is slower, more based on tactics and skill. I have no first hand experience so far but from the pve i have done so far I can see myself playing 3 ships on three different computers without many problems (with the practise i have from multiboxing wow).

So if you are looking for a new game/challenge to multibox let me encourage you to try potbs. Of course it is not as polished as other games since it is not released yet but I think it will be a nice game. There is a preorder key which can be purcased for a few bucks. The preorder ends on 1/22 so come and have a look.

Is anyone else considering playing potbs and has experience with multiboxing it?

    Love to hear your comments,

    Bunny

    Hi Bunny,

I am very intrigued by PotBS but wanted to know what kind of macros it has? Does it have /follow and /assist equivalents or is it totally different to WoW?

    Cheers,

    Ray.

    Hey Bunny,

Having any luck boxing PotBS, as I'm also interested.

There seems to be a few challanges for grouping though...

    No Group/Follow/Target command.

Let me know if you are running, and any insight you could share so I can get up and running.

    Thanks

Just a little update from a level 28 navy officer with a lvl 19 freetrader on a second account:

    * Playing 2 accounts in combat is possible but not easy because all your ships have to be moving and there is no follow/assist etc. so you basically have to play both accounts with full attention. I still haven't tried pvp but even in pve this is harder than I expected it to be.
    * Having extra accounts for economy and trading is very beneficial. Since I am more into the economy aspect of the game I leveled the freetrader to 19 (to get a ship with a huge loading capacity) and use him only to craft and sail through the carribean and collect materials and supply auction houses with my products.

I currently spend a lot of time building ships. It takes time to build and collect all parts you need to have but it is what I like about the game. I can build medium size ships (level 25-35 range) almost only with my own structures and only have to buy very few special things in the ah. The time consuming part ist to create all the different parts and ship them to your ship construction port. I currently need roughly 2 hours to create a batch of ships (ships are usually not created one by one but if you have all the material and click on "Create ship" you get three or four ships).
    The production lines are challenging:
For example: I get iron ore out of my iron mine, then have to make iron ingots out of it in my blacksmith. Those ingots are used for several products like different types of cannons, anchors etc.

    Conclusion:
If you like economy in a game it is entirely possible to multibox and get your own production lines going to build ships to sell to others. When you get your character to 30 you have access to the large shipwright and can build endgame ships. If you want (thats what I am going to do) you can make economy your priority and if you only play a couple of hours every night you have enough things to just keeping your production running.

If your focus is on pvp I hear there are a lot of fun parts but I think it's hard to play more than 2 accounts actively in pvp although this is only a guess. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

    Conclusion of the conclusion:
You like complex economy and like to multibox -> come to potbs and supply your nation with your ships.

    Bunny
(Considering buying a third account just for the supply of special materials needed for large ships; who whouldn't like to own his own gold mine and teak wood manufactions)

Yeah, from what I've seen so far that seems pretty valid. There are definite benefits to multiboxing for economy. I think you could multibox pvp to a certain degree, given the speed at which things happen and that sails will hold without pressing forward or back, but I'm not sure, and not really expecting much from that. I'm probably going to pick up an extra account, and maybe if I really like it a 3rd.

It seems like it has some of the aspects of Eve I like, without some of the hardcore aspects I didn't.
