Default Phishing Email or reall Blizzard?

    Hi all,
so the email below was filtered in my gmail email as spam, but looking at it I am not sure if it is a phishing email or really from blizzard?
Anyone else ever get an email like this? I am going to call when I get home but wondering is it legit.
    Thanks all

    Greetings!
An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with Blizzard's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can be found here:
WoW -> Legal -> End User License Agreement
and Section 8 of the Terms of Use found here:
WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use
The investigation will be continued by Blizzard administration to determine the action to be taken against your account. If your account is found violating the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated.
In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the original owner of the account.
To verify your identity please visit the following webpage:
    https://us.battle.net/login/login.xm...ex.xml&app=bam
Only Account Administration will be able to assist with account retrieval issues. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and your continued interest in World of Warcraft.
For more information, click herefor answers to Frequently Asked Questions or to contact the Blizzard Billing & Account Services team.
Account security is solely the responsibility of the accountholder. Please be advised that in the event of a compromised account, Blizzard representatives typically must lock the account. In these cases the Account Administration team will require faxed receipt of ID materials before releasing the account for play.

    its spam/fishing..

first off all blizz ALWAYS opens up with your REAL NAME AND/OR ACCOUNT NAME.
Second: they will NEVER ask you to go to some website to confirm your account.

To give you an idea this is a 24 hour ban i received recently (my first, and im not proud of it)

    WoWgmEU@blizzard.com

    aan mij
    details weergeven 1 mrt.

Account: ACCOUNTNAME GOES HERE (REMOVED FOR PRIVACY)
    Date of Violation: 2010/02/28
Character name involved: CHARACTER NAME GOES HERE (REMOVED)
    Type of violation: Harassment
Details of incident: Giving out real life information on a player.
Consequences for account: Warning placed on account and account suspended for 24 hours.

    Greetings,

We are writing to inform you that we have, unfortunately, had to add a warning to your World of Warcraft account and temporarily suspend it. It is with regret that we take this type of action; however, it is in the best interests of the World of Warcraft community as a whole and for the integrity of the game. After your suspension has expired, you will be able to access the World of Warcraft servers again.

Please note that should any further violations of our Rules and Policies occur, this incident will be taken into consideration when determining the consequences to your account. This could include further warnings, account suspension or account termination.

We strongly suggest you review our current Rules and Policies to avoid further action in the future, these can be found at:

When you are directed to another web site from an email just verify that its a ligit place. DO NOT TRUST whats in the email but hover your mouse over it and see what it REALLY says, as you can make a link go anyplace no matter what it says. If it links to https://us.battle.net/ then it probably ok. But if it takes you somewhere else then its phising. See like my sig says "36 BoXoR RoXoR Website" but when you hover your mouse over it you can see it goes to samdeathwalker.com. I could have said battle.net instead of boxor roxor or anything.

    information,click herefor

That is not a real email. The link we're seeing is not the link in the email I'm guessing, just a copy paste of the text in the email reconverted to a URL by the forum software. It probably redirects in the email itself. See >

http://news.google.com/ <Hover your mouse here and look at the status bar in your browser
    I have images here http://www.dual-boxing.com/showpost....09&postcount=5

Says Google News, actually links to Dual-boxing. But if I copy and paste the link, it doesn't grab the actual information for the redirect, just the text, and the message board software automatically formats it to a clickable link.

    http://news.google.com/

A real Blizzard email always lists your account name. It usually has several links in it, like Talos' email shows {none of this "go to
    WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use"} .

Blizzard will never ask you to log in to "prove it or we'll suspend you." They will suspend you FIRST and ask you to talk to them later.

NEVER log into your account via a link in an e-mail. Manually type in worldofwarcraft.com and access your account directly from the official site.

So NO! The link in your email is probably NOT safe! We don't have the actual link you have, so what we see is NOT confirmation that the link is ok.

Well I tried to call blizzard this afternoon and the automate response told me due to heavy call volume they could not connect my call at this time.
As everyone says here, I would never use a link from an email to go to my account, I did try pasting the link directly into the address bar and it does go to what looks like batte net but as always with stuff like this, it is easy to recreate a website on a proxy server to capture account information.
Thanks all for the input and hopefully I will be able to get through to Blizzard the next time I call them lol

Expect to see many more... Once they figure out an email is a true battlenet account they are relentless with the emails.

Yeah it's just a real pain for me since I have all my game accounts for every game I play on that email. How they managed to get my email is a true mystery to me. It's alright though... If you never follow the links then you're safe. Only way they could get in my stuff is if they ran a password sequencer+could guess my authenticator code. They aren't going to do that when people blindly follow links and freely enter their info on hack sites.

Your Bnet address, because it is actually your login, should be a totally separate address. My bnet address was one I created only for bnet, nothing else is or ever will be tied to it, even if it's wow-related.

You should change your bnet address to a brand new e-mail and have it forward to the address you actually check.
