welp i'm back in ravens. i had some bad experiences in small gang fights where my dps dropped to ass when trying to use my rails at short ranges. I also managed to lose 3 billion by being an idiot and autopiloting a frigate in highsec with very expensive cargo - don't do this

Thats a huge loss lol. I bet someone was happy with that kill mail. I'm currently training Heavy Missiles to 5 on my 15m SP pilot.

What did you lose that was worth so much and still fitted inside a frigate? Blueprints?

I've gone and made a rather long post on the EVE forums asking for a bit more clarification on the matter, similar to what Velath did for WoW here (I'm not too good at short, concise posts though).

While the EVE community is a huge improvement over that found in WoW forums, I still think my post might be a little tl;dr for what is still the txt msg generation, so support in the hope that a GM might notice and give us the answers we need would be appreciated.

I hate to necro, but if you weren't autopiloting, how would you have saved yourself?

Also, do you think they used cargo scanners and got all excited? If it was highsec, wouldn't it have been a suicide gank?

That 15km slowboat from warp in to gate on autopilot allows for a wealth of time for a pirate to target, scan, and gank - a frigate is pretty easy to take out unless it's actively speed tanking and even then there are webbers

If he'd been manually piloting he'd have warped in directly to the gate and jumped immediately - no time for an opportunistic pirate to scan and blam

There courier contracts and freight haulage corps (search for Red Frog) that will transport expensive/bulky cargo for a fee and gaurantee delivery/reimbursement
