    Default What's the new 8800GTX?

So i'm using a 8800 GTX and it finally took a dump on me, so what's the new card to have? i dont like ATI cause they dont look as good and every one i've had has crashed, but i was thinking a 260...
I haven't really been following cards since i had the old goodie but what should i get now?
    Price range is 200-300 prolly...
    Tips?

I am a happy owner of an Asus ENGTX 275.

So far the performance is very good. If you can jump to the 275 instead of the 260, the performance difference is noticeable.
The nvidia 260 will do a nice job anyways. Mostly depends on what do you try to push with it.

My card does 5 wows on a 24" screen without lag not screen tearing. Main is always on 55 - 60 fps except in dalaran when main drops to 20 - 40 fps.

I use a 285 and love it. I would not go above a 285 because 285+ is actually two cards SLId on one board. I have tried wow on many SLI as well as Crossfire setups and have never seen good performance. I think I read somewhere it is because wow is not optimized for SLI and or Crossfire.

have to say i was in your camp on the ati cards, but i took the dive and bought a 5870 and i gotta say its sweet as fook. without vertical sync on 1 client runs at 200fps maxed out and 60fps in dal.. with 5 clients sync on its 60fps all the way except dalaran, 30+ at busy times... seriously theres nothing wrong with ati..

I did SLI on two 9600gt and gained 15fps, so I guess it depends on what card perhaps?

Stick with a 275 over a 285. The $150 is not worth the small increase in performance of getting a 285 over a 275. A 275 will set you back $230-240 where a 285 cost about $390 now.

im also using GTX280's and i gotta say, they are rock solid, but bang for buck if i were you, i would snatch up some gt250's or something and wait for the new fermi cards if thats the route u wanna go, but any of the gtx series would be great too. just my 2 cents

I'm a long time ATI hater, but I just bought a HD 5770 last night (Just because there isn't a 260 to be had in this city) and wow, I'm very impressed with solo play, will fire it up on the boxing team this weekend.
