    Default Targeting Problems

I just started multiboxing and so I thought running with 3 mages would be fairly amusing. After the long process of getting all of my comfortable keybinds rebound to two new accounts, and then setting up some basic macros, I started killing things; this is where my difficulty sets in.

Two of the mages cast Fireball without problems, while the other gets a "No target selected" error. I've been using the fairly basic set up of making a macro like "/focus <Maincharacter>" and binding it to a single key on all of the two off characters. I then have my Fireball macro set to "/cast [target=focustarget] Fireball". As I previously said, this works for one of my mages, but not the other.

I have checked and rechecked to make sure the macro was identical on both off characters. I have switched the order in which I logged the characters in, thinking that might have some influence on how keyclone broadcasts the command, but that did not help. Note that it is only this specific macro that she doesn't seem to like, I have no problems with ones that do not require targeting. Given the nature of the error, I really think it is a macro issue, but at the same time it is only specific to the one character...

So basically I am wondering if you guys can think of any cause as to why a specific character would have trouble executing a certain macro that another character has no problems with. If there is anymore information I can provide that would help solve the issue, I will do so on request. I am also able to engage in a teamview session with anyone willing to help if they swing that way.

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a typo. Are you sure the focus macro on both slaves is correct?

Also, try copy/pasting {ctrl+C, ctrl+v} the macros from the toon that works to the toon that doesn't. Keyclone is obviously sending the command if you're getting an error message "No target selected". So the problem is somewhere within the targeting, either the focus not getting set or a missing bracket or other typo in the "target=" section of the macro.

Barring the possibility that the universe is irrational and the macro changes to the correct version only when I am looking, yes I am positive.

Edit: I did literally copy and paste the script from the working character to the dysfunctional character.

Three things I can think of...

    A) The macro has the wrong reference to target a mob. If the working two toons assist off the non-working toon, the cut/paste macro might cause a target issue if the non-working macro isn't taking into account its the 'main' / 'target master'

    B) Keybinding isn't set correctly. If you press "F" for fireball, but one toon has "F" bound to the wrong spell (correct spell macro/icon isn't in the right spot) then you might be trying to do/cast something you're not intending and causing an error.

    C) If you're using any form of /click, make sure the target for the click is in the right spot (left bar vs right bar, etc).

Usually when things bug out for me, its the macro with a typo. If you cut/paste, make sure that you got the whole code & you pasted over all the old code (leaving the first or last characters of the old code with the pasted new code would be screwy).

If its none of those, then start over with the basics. Can you type assist and get the correct target. Can you drag the spell from your book onto the bar & cast it (1 - 2 - 3, etc). If you want a keybinding, can you make it work with any spell (buffing spell like INT for example). Same with /click. Did you even get the spell from the trainer (Rank). Figure out the point where things stop working and you should be better able to fix the problem.

Ok, so it was something extremely basic.. I like using the same icon for the spell as is the default, and so I don't generally name my macros that replace spell functions, but I had inadvertently not replaced the regular spell with the macro >.>..

Thank you for being patient anyways, this is really enjoyable now that I am not in hysterics!

Don't feel bad, I've done that before while testing a healing macro. Didn't know why the healer wouldn't auto-target my tank, since the macro & spell book icons were the same. When it dawned on me, it was a /facepalm moment.
