Default Changes to MB in WoW

    Hi All,

I am returning to WoW after a year off, and I'm planning on multiboxing. I did some dual boxing back in the day, but now I have a shiny new i7 and more video RAM than my last three computers combined and I hope to grow my team.

    Question #1:
Is it still recommended to use separate install directories an use symbolic links (Windows 7)?

    Question #2:
One of the reasons I left WoW is because I am "old". I have no tolerance for drama and I don't like staying up until 4 in the morning raiding. I hope by MB I will be able to run instances and experience the lore and quests without the drama and scheduling of raiding guild. Is this a reasonable goal? Is running 5 mans a realistic goal for someone that doesn't want to spend 30 hours a week playing? Or are instances more the die hard multi-boxers?

    Question #3:
ISBoxer looks like the bees-knees, but doesn't mulitcast mouse clicking fall into a fuzzy area of the WoW TOS?

    Thank you,
    Jayar

1: no, using a single folder has shown to be better for performance
2: Do what's fun, or else why are playing? If you're rolling new, check us out on Kil'Jaeden, we have lots of boxers in guild and we have no drama and no schedule.
3: Many of us are using ISBoxer without any issues. If you have specific questions, hop in the #ISBoxer channel and feel free to ask.

    1. I haven't seen any hard numbers to support there being any visible performance difference between symbolic links (junction points, etc.) and single directories. [edit] There used to be a problem with certain files getting overwritten but ISB does config file virtualization now which overcomes this from what I've read.

    2. A 5-man group is easily boxable up through all 5-man and some 10-man raid content, though you'll need to outgear the 10-man stuff and have an honest tank/healer setup to be very effective at it.

    3. ISBoxer has been well received by those who use the extra features it provides over the other tools. I have yet to hear of anyone being banned for using it and it has been out for quite a while now. The only consideration is that, if you use the rendering feature that causes WoW to render the full window size while being shrunk to fit on your desktop, you will need more CPU/GPU horsepower than with the other solutions. If the mouse cursor broadcast and instant PIP features are critical to you, then there isn't much in the way of alternatives.

    1. Symbolic Links get you different options, rather then faster/smoother play. However, if you're going with IS Boxer, it will virtualize your configuration anyway... which is the only real advantage of symbolic links.

    2. Your toons can, as a 5-man, gear closer to the highest raid content then ever before. With straight badges you can get Tier 9.1 gear, which is very nice. You can also get very good pvp gear, either through arena, battlegrounds or using heroic badges to purchase it. There's a ton of content for 5-man, and if you want you can try 10-man content or to partner with another boxer. Also, you could easily 1-box raid if you so desired.

    3. IS Boxer is safe for warcraft. It doesn't let you do anything which could get your account into trouble. I've heard of someone being banned in Lord of the Rings, but that was more having a toon crafting (AFK) and not able to respond to a GM, not so much the software being used. There are hundreds of players using IS Boxer for warcraft and I've yet to hear of a single player banned.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.
