Probably going to be a power hog.

yeah .. I can run like 12 instances of WoW on my i920, wtf would you need more for? lol

still a nice chip. but the money? no thanks. As fur has stated a hundred times, 5 lowbie computers > 1 beefy super computer any day.

I was thinking of running two cores for main window, and one core for each slave.
With a 920 four slaves would share two cores, wouldnt this create lag in AV?

my plan is go to one pc for 5 accounts: so im really interested...but 1000$ for cpu is really high price.
and probably Anandtech reported a price for 1000 pieces stock (typical).
in euro it s about 700( a bit lesser), with current dollar xchange. a lot of "golds"

As with all Intel Extreme CPU's Initially they are aimed at people like....well.... me:
    *Disposable income
*A "Desire" to have the best
    *Terrible with money :P

The same could be said for anyone buying a lambo, sure, you could go get a porche or an audi for a hell of a lot less and do pretty much everything the lambo can do, but the lambo can do just that little bit more..

Ok, maybe its a bad analogy, but you get the idea.

Unfortunately in this senario, if you follow that link in Fuzzyboy's post, you can see Intel's roadmap, which shows the 980 being the leader until at least 2011, which probably means prices won't drop anytime soon, unlike most years in the past where the series advances and new Extreme editions pop up and drive the other ones down

    Objectively...

With my i7 920, stock speed, stock cooler.
    With 5-boxing, using IS Boxer.
With every physical core on all five instances of the game.
And no logical cores assigned to any wow instance.

I get up to 30% CPU usage in battlegrounds.
Dalaran will occasionally reach 50% or so.

    CPU is not my bottleneck.
Nothing is really close to 100% usage anymore.

For the price, definitely not worth it.
But, then again, if you like to have the best.
    And have the cash...
    It is tempting.
