A few questions about switching from KC to ISBoxer

I currently use Keyclone and I am interested in moving over to ISBoxer mainly for easy use of ftl setup......that I cant figure out in KC. One concern that I have is that I have two KC licenses..........one for my home computer and the other for my work computer.
If I move over to ISBoxer, will I also need two licenses? Or will it allow me to use one license over two computers....as long as i am only using one computer at a time?
Also, can anyone comment on their switch and how well it went for them?

I believe (but worth checking) that innerspace comes with a license for up to 5 computers.

Keyclone is a one time fee per computer, whereas innerspace is a subscription.

I recently moved from keyclone to isboxer and love it.
The wizard results in an FTL setup in seconds. There is a learning curve with setting up new keys - but generally I look for a key that's setup in the way i want and copy it.

Repeater regions are fantastic. I love the mouse broadcasting for quest hand ins and pick up, and if i had a group that had targetted AOE the mouse broadcasting would be fantastic.

I felt guilty moving from keyclone to isboxer, as keyclone stood me in good stead for so long, but IS and ISBOXER allows me to do so much more.

I agree with Shaeman, I have been a long time user of Keyclone on multiple machines.

Around 12 months ago I purchased the 90 license for IS/ISBoxer and found it to be very complicated (In some ways thats good) but when you are just starting out, it was confusing as hell, where as Keyclone was easy to just run and use.

However, it is a very different situation now, I installed and purchased a new license for IS/ISBoxer, used the wizard, and installed the Jamba WoW add-on and literally within 15 minutes (would have been quicker if I didn't have to put in authenticator codes for all my logins :P) I had a perfect auto switch and auto follow set up.

Simply put, IS/ISBoxer is... beautiful

You can run IS on as many computers as you want, but no more then five at one time.

Your license travels with you, and is not tied to a specific IP address.
I took my computer with me for seasonal work, and used IS Boxer in both Calgary and Vancouver, without issue.

The largest adjustment, coming from KC to IS Boxer are the broadcast modes.



Keyclone sends every key pressed to all clients.
Unless you enable the pause feature.
You can modify this with a white list (only send certain keys) or a blacklist (don't send certain keys).
But there is really only one broadcast mode.



IS Boxer has two broadcast modes.

Repeater is very similar to Keyclone, in that anything pressed is broadcast to everything else.
You can whitelist/blacklist too, but because of Keymaps (the other broadcast mode) I'd recommend not using black/white lists.

Most often, you'll have Repeater or Keymaps on, but the other off.
Sometimes both will be on or off.
You can toggle them independently.

Repeater On & Keymaps Off = Enter password.
Repeater Off & Keymaps On = 99% of your playtime.
Both Off = Chatting
Both On = Mouse broadcasting to click portals for example.

Keymaps are actually a group of mapped keys.
Keymaps are preconfigured hotkeys or IS Boxer macros.
Most will have a hotkey to trigger them (but they don't need a hotkey, as another mapped key can use one).
They have a target, which can be the active toon, the other toons, members of a given class, members of a predefined group... massive flexibility.
They have at least one step, but as many as you want.
(Steps are different actions from subsequent pushes of the same key).

Generally, every key which with KC is broadcast to all clients...
Should be made into a mapped key with IS Boxer.
Except you can specify targets... so if "T" was a keybind for only one wow client, you can a mapped key which sends T to only that window.

It is important to note, if mapped keys (Keymaps) and Repeater are both on.
They both work.
But Keymaps supercede Repeater.
If you have "H" as the hotkey for a mapped key, then typing Hello will come out as ello, when both Keymaps and Repeater are on.



The default, wizard profile, without any changes will get you playing in very quickly.
If you watch the video for the 40 seconds configuration, and know what to push for the basic set up, it is under a minute.

Tinkering around with the set up... takes a lot more time to get what you want.
But there are lots of guides on isboxer.com, or my signature has a decent guide.
And there is the IRC from the isboxer main page, which is strong support too.

^^ truth. I made the switch from KC to IS/ISBoxer about a month ago now - it was a couple solid weeks of working out minor kinks but Ualaa's writeup + ISBoxer wizard had me up and running very quickly overall. The biggest issue I ran into was unlearning certain habits/keybinds that were required with my KC setup but aren't needed at all with FTL.

edit for clarity: With ISBoxer and Jamba I had a team of baby paladins running around pwning the starting area in about 15-20 minutes. The couple weeks I was referring to was post-setup tweaking for my pre-existing team(s) only.

Just to go offtopic- I will always recommend starting out with Keyclone, only once in a lifetime fee and it will hold your hand through the first 80 levels incredibly well. When you feel ready make the switch to ISboxer.

For the longest time, I recommended everyone start with KC. And KC has a lot of strengths, its simplicity being a major one.

IS Boxer has a wizard, which gets you up and running in less time then adding all of the windows initially in KC. You don't need any knowledge of warcraft macros to start, just drag each spell to a slot on the bar. If you put lightning bolts all on '1'. '1' will have every toon assist the leader and cast their lightning bolt.

The Repeater Mode vs Keymaps, as independent broadcast modes was a bit confusing coming from KC, at least initially. The graphical click buttons help quite a bit here.

I started seriously boxing with ISboxer and found it way easier to use than any other program Keyclone/Hotkeynet etc etc... I tried several.

With the video tutorials on Youtube I had my team set up in no time and learned as I went using the video's as a reference. I doubt I could even multibox anymore without ISboxer it's just so damn user friendly compared to everything else.

Well that's my testimonial, lol. I really fell in love with the software and it's worth more to me than 10$ per 3 month sub fee. Not that I want you to raise the price Lax w/e you are lol =) Blizzard already kills me on subs.
